Re: What did you do today.

Well my painting stuff has finally arrived in Singapore. 5 months door to door from Texas.... I have a bunch of battletech stuff to paint! @Primach have you tried the Battletech Alpha Strike rules? They've got me well back into battletech (after 30 years!) and the new lovely plastic minis are top no...

Re: What did you do today.

Nice work all round. While I've been safely in Singapore these past 3 months, all* my hobby stuff is still waiting to be loaded in the US for sea shipment here. :( I'm told end of April, but then I was originally told start of March...then Mid-march...then early April... I'll have forgotten how to p...

Re: Games of Fantasy Battles - Comparisons and Opinions

Had another game of Oathmark recently (again Empire v Beastmen with my homebrew beastman list). Really liking the simplicity combined with some tactical depth. Both of us were a little smarter than last time with nit placement and beginning to understand some synergies. Was another bloody affair wit...

Re: Games of Fantasy Battles - Comparisons and Opinions

I've been itching for a mass battle system lately and Oathmark seems pretty interesting. There's not much online about it (compared to the more popular game systems) but it still seems to be more than a one-off since they seem to be releasing more expansions as well as actually have some miniatures...

Re: Games of Fantasy Battles - Comparisons and Opinions

I have yet to play Oathmark, but it's still on my to-do list. From my read through of the rules, combat seemed to require a fair bit of addition and subtraction to calculate to hit rolls, how fast/intuitive is it once the dice hit the table? My other take away from the book was that while there are...

Re: Games of Fantasy Battles - Comparisons and Opinions

Finally played my first game of Oathmark yesterday and have to say I really like the system. Fast moving, a rank & flank game that doesn't get bogged down in the movement phase, alternating activation and brutal combat. It was my opponent's first game too, so we both made a few tactical blunders but...

I also painted a Dwarf mage for Age of Magic. I know Dwarves aren't traditionally big on using magic in most settings, but I'm sure if you told one, "Well, Elves can do it." they'd be an arch-mage in no time.

Big book or small softcover? I don't have one, but they're pretty cheap over here and I can get one and bring it to you later this year?
