1/32 scale is too big for Bolt Action? Only asking because I have a Churchill MK3 tank and crew to paint. Purely as a diorama but I was wondering if it could be used. My opponent would have to have the same scale I'm guessing. Otherwise we would be giants.

1/32 is a pretty big scale. You could use it, but it would look out of proportion to everything else on the tabletop. If you are ok with that then by all means go for it.
28mm scale is 1/56 ish, though the way models are sculpted means that the scale of things like heads and hands can be a bit bigger.
From what I have read online, 1/56 tanks on bases or 1/48 tanks with no base look good alongside 28mm minis. This is because 1/56 tanks are actually the right size, but because real life tanks aren't always as big as people imagine them to be they appear a little small on the table. The base helps put them at the same height as the accompanying infantry. 1/48 is a bit bigger than it should be, but fits better with people's image of AFVs better. Personally, I am looking at 1/48 Tamiya kits as they are readily available from Joshin and fairly cheap. :D

I don't see myself playing with more than one platoon to be honest.

20 blokes plus support sounds like my cup of tea.

I reckon I will get a Dust mech at some point but I have an idea for a light scout walker. I dont want anything to big and overpowering as I am keen on just a skirmish game or two at first.

My Bolt Action rulebook arrived last week. I'm digesting it when I have the time. One thing I love about it (other than the whole thing) is that it's a smaller book, around 10 inches by 7.5. So, much more compact than most rulebooks we see, and the binding is better than the Black Powder family of books, should stand up to the rigours of the table nicely. Very clearly set out and straightforward to understand too. I'm already trying to point up some lists.

I would say my home guard are about 50% done, but since they are all "inexperienced" I need a few more of them! Aiming for the tail end of this month or early October for completion..

And I am finished!

Well, after a few weeks slogging away at my Bolt Action force, I finally have my German troops done. Well, not really, I still have to do a half track or two, I have an HMG on the way and somewhere in the massive pile of metal and plastic I call a 'to do' pile, I have a blister pack of specialists with a Panzerschreck and a Flammenwerfer. But they can wait for a while I guess.

I am sure there will be some historical inaccuracies, I looked at some pictures in some Osprey books, went through some of the Wikipedia pages regarding insignia and I still can't really tell which models should have what colour braids, pips, badges and shoulder markings, so please forgive me if my NCOs are missing their correct lapels or something. Also, all my panzerfausts are upside down. Whoops.

Anyway, on with the pictures.
First off, the core of my force, an infantry platoon.

Next, the support, a PaK 40 and a sniper team.

And finally, the whole force together along with my recon troop in the left foreground
