I imagine it'll be 8,000 yen like the other starters, so a hair less than 7,000 after tax with the store discount - the super-low price we got on Nightvault was because the shop owner made a mistake with the order, which probably won't happen again. :D

40 pounds is the standard cost of the starter sets, so... 5400 yen at today's exchange rate (thanks, Brexit!). Two sets is still less than free shipping, but if there's anything you want to pick up to throw on there I'd be up for it. We'd have to have someone on the ground to go to an actual Warhammer store in the UK though, right?

For that kind of saving I’d be keen. I’ll see if mus wants anything when I see him tomorrow. Otherwise I’ll have a think and no doubt pick up some tat I don’t really need  Anything you want to get (even a bit) would help. Look! An actual reason to buy minis! Value! :D

As for boots on the ground, that’d be my mum. Or possibly dad or brother. Somebody, anyway.

I dont think they actually need to have the item in stock. The chap in the store explained to me that when you want it shipped overseas, they just lump it in with whatever weekly/monthly stock is being shipped out to the overseas stock location (presumably Tokyo in this case) from GWHQ, so it's not actually the item from the store you're getting. I think the reason they can do it at all is just that by dint of having a warm body in the store, you can "prove" it's a UK based purchase. The store is happy to send it, cos they get the sale kachinged up on their register and look good that way. GW HQ dont care cos theyre sending a shipment of stock over anyway, and after that it's just local postal costs from the regional stock location, which will be minimal when compared to a 100quid gained at POS.

If you spend at least 100 pounds in a GW brick and mortar store they’ll ship it internationally for free, yeah.

It seems kind of counter-intuitive given their usual policies of 'pay local prices', but it's not a bad offer if you have someone local who can actually get to the store.

Today I spent a few hours playing Mordheim on the computer. It's not bad, but not particularly stellar. It looks awesome, but the controls take some getting used to. So far a lot of games have devolved into my team and the PC's team lining up and hitting each other, except for when the AI has some of its warriors go and stand passively in a corner for no reason.

They're not super proactive about telling people about it - when I dropped 70 pounds in the Oxford store, the guy (who I'd told I was living in Japan) didn't say "oh, if you spend 30 more we can just ship it to you there" or anything. It really seems to be an odd little policy, yeah.

I just about finished the WarCry terrain, so that's nice, just some bridges and barriers to go. It actually got me in the mood to paint up the terrain from the Kill Team box set I picked up from just a bit back as much as anything.

That is 100% what I was told by the chap in the GW I was in. It remains untested, but my mum said she was amenable to giving it a shot. *shrug* If they tell her to get lost (politely, one would hope) there's always the usual ebay/suck it up and pay local options.

ps I painted some warcry stuff. Rather than flood the WDYDT thread, I made a separate one here.

Now in the right thread! (Primarch, feel free to delete the other one, I don't seem to have permissions to do so.)

Ugh, I wrote a whole effortpost about my trip out to Osaka and the Rising Sun GT Underworlds tournament on Monday but my ding-dang computer crashed and ate it.

Short version: I took a trip out to Osaka on Monday for the Rising Sun GT Underworlds tournament on Monday!

Slightly-longer version: And it was a lot of fun. I ended up in 5th place with a 2-2 record, with two solid wins with my Ylthari's Guardians against the Briar Queen and the Profiteers, a somewhat-frustrating loss against Mollog, and a very close-fought and fun loss against Steelheart. Man, Mollog is not a warband to play if you want to make friends I tell you what. Part of it is my fault - Mollog was a famous meta-changer and I didn't really account for him, but the fact that a "good" Mollog deck is built around making your troll a smash machine and also locking down opponents from moving so you can safely swipe at them from outside their own attack range is just a bit frustrating.

But everyone there was good people, and it was nice to meet some new fellow nerds and hang out and play a bunch of a game I really like. I was a bit nervous about the word "tournament," generally being a laid-back gaming type, but I suspected that the nature of the game (tightly-written rules with no real grey areas for misinterpretation and really pretty solid limits on how good - or bad - you can make a deck) would mean that it would be less stressful than a tourney for, say, 40K (where "tournament play" can be a very different beast from casual play), and I was pretty much right, Mollog notwithstanding. The organizer had an Underworlds Organized Play pack from GW and some donated swag from some FLGS's, so I went home with some (Japanese-language) alternate-art cards, acrylic tokens, and a card-and-token-organizing playmat that I would never have actually bought myself but had thought was cool for a while.

Now I better post this before my computer decides to die on me again.
