Shaolin Montage

Because Shaolin.

This isn't a proper promo, just some training footage cut together and put into context. The aim is to appear on the radar of the martial arts community of my geographic area.

It includes a Yoshitoshi print, so has a vague relevance to Japan :P

Yer nae bad at this Kung fu malarkey these days, are you :D

From a layman's perspective, I think the clip is very nicely edited, and flows well. The locations are scenic and appropriate to the mood. I can't critique the stances as I don't know enough about em to do so. Perhaps the stance entry could be a tad more powerful, but that's just my inexpert opinion. The swirly galaxy is nice, too :P
On the down side, all the stuff about micro and macro and harmony and suchlike comes across as pretentious. I appreciate that when you get down to it it actually is the most important thing about Qigong, but it can be a bit airy fairy for the man in the street who doesn't have the background. It depends on who your target audience is, really.

Anyway - nice vid :) incidentally, where did you film it? Pollock park? Nice place, anyway :)

I thought you and your family might like to see some pics of Pollok Park - it's all Pollok Park; one shot by the river, two different shots of a sub-garden to the left (looking towards the river) of the main lawn. The gazebo is a relatively new addition to one of the gardens heading towards the walled section.

One of the rules of marketing the sort of things I do is "don't be afraid to let your freak flag fly!" :P

It differentiates you from other things; attracting those who are looking for what you are giving, and repelling those who are not. I understand that it may come across as pretentious or cheesy. To the average person in the street it may not appear to be their cup of tea...but then they are not likely to want to take up meditation anyway.

Also, you have a good eye for MAs - I'm floating too high (rather than gliding) on the entry. There are a few technical details of the performances I'm not happy with, but overall I'm pleased with how it came out. If you compare my sets to those of other traditional Chinese martial artists on youtube, I'm not too bad 8-)

A fair point well put. You clearly know what you're about :)
