This picture has been making the rounds:

I like. The Aggressors (the big dudes with missiles on the back and the now-obligatory gun gauntlets) are pure love, and the Inceptors with plasma guns and cool helmets are pretty sweet too. The Chaplain and Apothecary are cool too, but as the Librarian pricing suggests they'll be dumb expensive I imagine I'll end up passing.

Wow! Hopefully there will be a discounted bundle where you get a better deal. I'm a sucker for character models

I'm liking that chaplain's coat. Bit o swoosh action goin' on there, if mine eyes dont deceive me...

The chaps with the plasma guns look areet, too. Twin wielding jump troops with rather implacable visages. Feels almost...Sistery...

Big lads with dakka everywhere are fine. Basically scaled down deredeos, no?

Overall, I like the Bigmarines so far. Can't wait to blow em to bits :)

And the SM codex preview: https://www.warhammer-community.com/201 ... ge-post-1/

Not much rules-wise, I'm mostly posting because I'm pleased at how much my interpretation of the Scythes color scheme is clearly objectively superior to the official one. :D

There was a livestream recently where they did talk about some of the crunch, notably Chapter Tactics bonuses you get for having a whole detachment a single chapter - Ultramarines get +1 Ld (boring, but makes 5-man squads essentially immune to morale) and the ability to shoot after falling back, which strikes me as huge. Frankly, I think this design space is where GW could really make or break 8th edition. It'll be a delicate balance between flavorful coolness and big gaps in power between different armies' rules.

What?? that's it!? Laaaaame. sounds kinda boring but after playing a few games, shooting after falling back is going. to be such a life saver. Huge.

and right it's the scythes of the emperor, not the golden torsos. I like your paint scheme better too

Personally I'm all in favor of the design philosophy of "simple rules with characterful effects," so shooting after falling back works for me. I've certainly heard about how scary it makes Inceptors, since they Fly and always get to.

The Warlord traits also got a mention - the UM one is to recover a CP after spending it on a 5+, which again seems to fit the blue dudes' theme of "martial discipline" pretty well.

I was thinking more "Centurions that aren't garbage," but yeah. :D

Edit to add: the Raven Guard chapter tactics rule is apparently -1 to hit RG units if you're more than 12" away.

Data sheet for Intercessors:

Image

Similar things happened to Hellblasters too - cheaper, and they get analogous weapon options: a slightly less powerful Assault version, the regular version, and a slightly more powerful Heavy version (which is 36" heavy 1 S 8, overchargeable to 9, verra nice). Inceptors got a price boost, and Aggressors (the dudes with what we thought were missiles but turned out to be grenades on their backs) turned out to be a short-range anti-infantry unit, rather than something that intrudes on Devastator or Centurion design space. It seems like they're (thankfully) not making Primaris units things that will replace existing smallmarine units, but focusing them pretty strongly on short-to mid-range AP options. So far, of course.

(Review with some other data sheets is here.)

And in non-Marine news, apparently Forgeworld is making up new aspect warriors now?

https://www.forgeworld.co.uk/en-ES/Shad ... rior-Squad

Stealthy jet-packy anti-tanky dudes, yippee! With man-portable stone spires for dramatic posing no less.

(The important take-home is that this now means, with any luck, we may get Slicing Orbs of Zandros eventually.)

Those have been around for ages. They're so old that M_i_J has a fully painted unit of them.
