@Prim - ah well, if you have a warranty then absolutely, aye - have the shop take a look at it. At the very least you’ll know for sure what the issue is. Fingers crossed it’s an easy fix for you

Well looking online, the most likely culprit is the power unit, which is fairly cheap as far as PC parts go. The power button is another cheap possibility and would explain the lack of activity when I press it, but probably wouldn't have caused the initial shut off. If it's something else, I'll need to decide if it's worth paying or if I should buy a new machine. My policy only covers labour and shipping, so if the parts cost an arm and a leg it may be time to upgrade.me_in_japan wrote: ↑Tue Sep 03, 2019 8:07 am@Prim - ah well, if you have a warranty then absolutely, aye - have the shop take a look at it. This mornings efforts. Knight and Templar for Frostgrave. The best thing about painting for that is when you get tired you just add snow and you have yourself some new Christmas decorations.

Historical minis have too many straps.

@Ashdevon - Brrr, chilly! The bright red does make them look pretty festive though. "Right, let's sort out those cultists and get back home for some mulled wine and Chrismas pud!"

Well, I got the diagnosis back on my PC. The motherboard was the culprit.
A new board would set me back at least 15000 yen or so, plus apparently I'd need a fresh install of Windows as each copy is keyed to a specific board (or so I gathered from what I could catch of the engineer's information), so I'd be looking at somewhere in the 30,000 and over area. Weighing up my choices I decided to order a new PC. Hopefully by next weekend I will have it all up and running. Now I just need to remember several years' worth of passwords and log-ins for every site I visit on a regular basis.
In the meantime I am trying to put some small chips in the lead/plastic mountain.

Re: What did you do today.
I actually painted something over the weekend:

Yay! Hopefully it'll help get me on the ball again. (Yes, painting contrarian Dave picked reddish stone explicitly because the GW studio scheme is greenish stone.)

Re: What did you do today.
Me again! Still just working on the WarCry buildings (about 2/3 done with the set now), plus some alternate Warlord weapons for Titanicus (and I am now officially in love with the Contrast Aethermatic Blue for plasma glow - so easy). Nothing really interesting enough to share, but it's nice to be in the painting seat every night again.

@ToD - I like the red ruins, it gives them a nice Khorne-y feel.

Re: What did you do today.
Thanks! TBH I was shooting more for red sandstone than literally washed in blood, heh.
Man, it's going to be hard to stick to my "make a dent in my backlog" thing this month - BeastGrave is up for preorder on the 21st, and a week later Space Marine Heroes season 3 comes out. The latter will wait, but I'll probably pick up the new Underworlds set early if only to get the new boards and rules.

Re: What did you do today.
@Dave - how much is Beastgrave going for in your neck of the woods? Any preorder discounts or owt? I’m kinda interested in getting it myself, but if it’s going to be mega expensive I might just wait and get it from the uK and have my family post it.
Ooooor, now might be a useful time to take advantage of spending over a hundred quid and getting it shipped direct to us from GW UK? *raises eyebrow quizzically*
