I would have though that in the context of the Horus Heresy and Epic that 40 Marines isn’t a “big unit”.

It might be worth looking for tips from people weathering model kits of cars, rather than tanks? Or possibly aeroplanes, although the weathering there will be of a different style.

They look good. And you've made it hard on yourself by doing all those mk 4 Marines. No chest eagles or cabling to hide the join on the torso.
