The Road to Fulford

Post by Primarch » Tue May 30, 2017 10:50 pm

Now that everyone has their models and has (hopefully) started construction/painting, we should probably take a look at the road ahead.

I'd like to propose the following. At some point in the near future, we should aim to get in a few games of Saga so that everyone can familiarize themselves with the rules. After that, we can play a set of short, mini-campaigns. The Viking players can battle it out to see who will lead the invasion, while the Anglo-saxons deal with the events of Tostig's treachery and his raids upon the East coast with his force of Frankish mercenaries. Following those games, we can try a few Viking raids with each side gaining a bonus (or a penalty) for their army in the Fulford game. Finally everything can come to a head with The Battle of Fulford. I'll rent a venue and we can spend the day leading our armies against one another to see whether history repeats itself or whether the two Saxon Earls can see off the Viking invaders.

What do you think?

The road to Fulford eh? Have you tried Google Maps?

Seriously, sounds good. How about one team re-roll or something for the main battle?

Good idea. I agree it.
My Saxon haven't arrived yet. I suppose I can paint them in my OBON holidays.

The Road to Fulford is the A64 which runs between Scarborough (sounds fair. Good variety of herbs) on the coast and Leeds (first in the Nation in a number of fields)

How's thems for some obscure Dad/geographic jokes?

@Prim: sorry I seem to have deleted your post in my efforts to quote it. Humblest apologies nn(_ _)nn

Bl**dy Vikings, always ruining stuff.

I get the Scarborough reference, but not the Leeds one. :?:

Leeds = leads the nation. A poor joke to be sure, but surely not that bad.

How are folks getting on with their forces? Would August be a good time to start the ball rolling or are folks still busy with Bolt Action minis for Normandy?
