Post by Primarch » Wed Jan 26, 2022 9:46 pm

This thread is for you to show off your finished minis for Unhallowed Ground. Feel free to post close ups, models posed in terrain, artistic shots with filters applied, whatever you like.
To get us started, Jus has offered up this awesome looking vampire.

I have been working on some minis for this project. I bought these ages ago and didn't know what I would use them for, but they seem pretty well suited for this. I set myself a challenge of painting using a minimal palette, so take a look over the pictures and see if you can guess how many colours of paints I used.

Did you guess 4? Because all of the above, including the bases was painted using only 4 different paints. Dark grey, dark red, mustard yellow and ivory. It was kind of fun figuring out how to do it actually.
I'm not sure if I should apply a sepia wash over the cloaks to blend the colours together more or not. On the one hand, it might make them look better, on the other, sepia wash is practically a meme for blanchitsu at this stage. :D

Don't wash em - I like the green.

Also, has anyone else noticed how weird it is that we painters wash things to make em look dirty? Thought for the day...

Bizarrely, that's yellow and ivory.

*Narrows eyes suspiciously* you can't fool me! Dat's green, dat is!

On a separate note, I've just realised I have the perfect mini to paint up for this. One which I spent ages and ages converting (fairly subtly, but to decent effect, I like to think), but never painted and which fits the mood and aesthetic rather well. I'll stick it on the to-do list...

Great work on those ghosts Stu - they came out really well. Agree no need for a wash.
On the painting table:
Battletech
Silver Bayonet
40K Deathwatch
Warhammer Quest The '95 original!
