What Did You Do Today?

The old WDYDT thread ran for 1140 pages, and 11400 posts, which was something pretty spectacular. As a general discussion thread where people could show off their recent work, WIP shots, chat about the hobby, games and quite a few off-topic themes as well, I think that as part of the 2026 site revamp, a similar thread could be useful. So here we go.

Just before the end of 2025, I managed to slap some paint onto a variety of figures.
First of all, a selection of robots. These are all from Reaper minis and will be joining some other mechanical monstrosities in my SF Skirmish Games box, probably seeing use in This Is Not A Test.

Next, some Anglo-Saxons for Saga/Pillage/Hail Caesar, depending on how big a game I want to play. The models are from Gripping Beast.

Some Afghan tribesmen by Artisan Designs. These will be for The Men Who Would Be Kings. I got them years ago and I have nearly finished painting up both of my armies. Just a few more of these to go and I will be able to play a game.

Finally, a set of 3d printed models (courtesy of Jus) by Titan Forge on MMF. I have no idea when or how I will use these to be honest, I just thought that they looked cool. That said, I found them a real chore to paint. They are supposed to be plague-ridden circus performers, so I went for sickly green skin and off looking colours for their clothing. I'm not sure if it was just the unpleasant palette that I chose, but I really didn't enjoy the process very much. I am glad that they are done, and I am happy with the result. But getting to the end was a grind.

So, how about you, what did you do today?

I undercoated a bunch of fungazombies. Exciting? No. But it's what I did today. 👍

(I'd link a photo, but doing so from my phone is way more trouble than it's worth. I'm not even sure if it's doable, actually.) Anyway: imagine legions of whitish grey fungal zombies.

I’m painting the wild riders from the wood elves battalion set for 2 games I have in January! I’ll be back with a finished unit soon 😎

Nice looking wild riders. I like the blue weapons, they contrast nicely with the greens and browns of the rest of the figures.

I had a couple of days away from the painting desk and PC due to New Year's stuff. Hopefully I can get back behind my brushes today as I have a lot of stuff that I want to crack on with.

I got some more painting in today, lots of things in progress and a couple of pieces nearing the finish line.

Today I got a bunch of medieval polish warriors finished off.

The minis are all 3D prints (Thanks Jus) from a company called Black Knight Miniatures. I tried out a new technique with these guys. All of the yellow parts have a pink undercoat. It came out really well. If you are struggling to get a nice yellow finish, a nice pink undercoat will really make it pop.

@Prim- Pink pops your yellows! I would have never guessed. I do like those Poles. The chainmail has a nice oily sort of look to it too.
Oh, oh, those clowns would be a perfect Mordheim Carnival of Chaos! I would not doubt if that was what the designers had in mind.

I actually painted and even puttied this winter holiday! Got a Turnip 28 regiment just about...80%... finished. I do need one more unit of something. Not sure if I want to cobble together a cannon or some skirmishers or some mounted raiders. Wait and see where my carroty, grotty muse leads. No hurry, not like I'll ever play.

Yep, pink is the magic ingredient to make yellow work.

As for Turnip28, I actually have my last unit in my to-do queue at the moment, so you may be getting a game sooner than you think. (Probably not this month though).

they look amazing! i cant believe how fast your turnaround is... I'm making a large project at the moment which might be painted in the next 6 months? Looking at your completed units drives me on!
