Game Report Section

Post by Dungeon Lord » Wed Aug 17, 2011 11:59 am

I was just thinking that maybe we could have a Game Report Section in the different areas of this site. I think a lot of talk is wasted in PMs and may?? make things look less active than they really are. I only suggest this as a light and fun way to let everyone know who's playing who and what they are playing. It may also allow people to record their heroic feats.
I see one draw back though;
  • People getting too sensitive/overly zealous with the results of a game. What say ye??

this sounds like fun... I played The lord of the Dungeon

8000 points of Orks V CSM

He beat me 2 objectives to 1

It was a great game.

Thanks for leaving out the fact that in the last round the Orks killed 2 units of Choosen, a CSM unit, a Land Raider and Abaddon... It was looking pretty sweet for most of it until the hairy ending.

The Chaos Man of the Match has to go to the Obliterators who teleported in first turn and survived 5 turns of Ork punishment and killing enough troops in return to stop the Orks from taking objectives and advancing.

Followed closely by Abbadon's "Planet Killer" and the DOOMS DAY DEVICE that brought down insane amounts of fire to splatter boys all over the place.

It was a good game. Thanks Admiral. Hats off to Gazgul and poopy faces to Abbadon who seems to hate me.

good idea, dlord :)

As for me, this month i played:

Badruck at 40k - my Deldar vs his grot IG. Result: draw.
Interesting event: Lelith Hesperax's Raider zooms flat out up Badruck's flank, but gets immobilised in his turn, crashing into the ground in a ball of fire. Many wyches die in the resulting fireball, but Lelith and a handful of her comrades survive and spring from the wreckage, big-hair aflame and thirsty for vengeance. They sprint towards the waiting grots. Before they can reach them, the grots let rip with massed lasgun fire, slaughtering the remaining wyches except for one with a set of chain flails (presumably she deflected the las bolts, skywalker stylee), and hesperax, who despite her agility cannot dodge all the bolts. Finally, Flaily and Hespy, covered in blood and haloed by her burning hair, made it to the grot lines, where they reaped a fearsome tally. Sadly, it wasnt enough to wipe out the grots, and the last thing Hesperax saw was a las-gun butt crashing into her oh-so-purty face.

well, thats how I like to think of it, anyway :D

Other games I played:
Warmachine vs Justin's Menoth: Win to me, due to some cryxy tryxiness right at the end.

1750pts 40k vs Prim: epic loss (tabled, or near as dammit. Wraithguard armies: underwhelming.)
Malifaux vs Prim: loss (newbie inexperience, really.)
Warmachine vs Prim: loss (lucky shot at the end won it for him.)

250pts KillZone w Spev vs Konrad and Badruck: loss. (never bring a knife to a gunfight. Too much dakka...)
500pts ComPat w Konrad vs Spev and Badruck: draw? close loss? I cant remember. twas fun, tho :)
1000pts 40k w Spev vs Konrad and Badruck: epic loss. (Just cant kill enough orks quickly enough! And warbosses? yech  )

3000pts Spearhead vs Prim's CSM/Daemons (yesterday) : win to me.
I managed to meta-game Prim to death on this one, I think. He said he was taking CSM and CDaemons, so I took things to kill threats I figured would be there. Incubi for CSM, Mandrakes for lesser daemons (and boy did they perform!) kabalites for greater daemons, and flanking webway portals to get in his face asap. It all pretty much worked, and the Spearheads enabled me to set up exactly as I wanted (i.e. off the table, so that when Prim Spearheaded his pre-game bombardment, it all went "plop" completely ineffectually.)

Points of note: Mandrakes have a use! Ace for killing lesser daemons of all flavours, and can do it up close or shoot em from a distance.
Haemunculi make Dark Eldar work. I had no idea why I was struggling to win until I started taking them, and then I was like "ooooooh, so thats how Dark Eldar are supposed to be!"
Grotesques: A big VG for these guys. If you take Urien Rakarth these guys are S7 on the charge, and with 3 attacks each (6 for the Aberation w scissorhand) at I5 they can pretty much pull the legs off anything except a land raider. They killed 2 defilers in H2H this game.
Urien - the best Dark Eldar named char so far, I think. Better than Hesperax.
Ive been seeing this a lot recently, but just so's everyone knows: Wyches are NOT a killy close combat unit. They are a tar pit. That is all.

so, that was my month of gaming. We will not see its like again, i fear...

Likewise, I have done a lot of gaming this month.
1000 points, 40k, Raven Guard (me) Vs. Red Scorpions (Badruck).
After deciding that Raven Guard weren't an 'alpha-strike' army, Badruck deployed his terminators and chaplain as far forward as he could. Shrike and his band of merry, choppy, jump pack marines tore them to shreds on turn 1 before spending the rest of the game jumping, running and assaulting into the parts of Badruck's army that he brought on piecemeal due to poor reserve rolls. At games end, the Admiral had 2 sternguard and 1 scout left which couldnt contest both the objectives giving me the win.

2000 points, WFB, High Elves (me) Vs. Wood Elves (Kojibear).
Despite a strong start, it all went horribly wrong for me around turn 3/4. Vital spells didnt go off or were dispelled or just failed to do anything, allowing Koji to run his tree-folk through my lines and massacre most of my army.

1500 points, 40k, Tyrants Legion (me) Vs. Imperial Guard Veterans in Chimeras...er Rebel Grots (Badruck).
Every dice rolled by me was golden, every shot hit, every hit killed something. After my 3rd turn the game was called as we were really just going to be wasting time at that point. A decisive win for the Tyrant's Legion.

Dust Tactics, Allies (me) Vs. Axis (Kenya and Badruck)
A fast and fun little game that saw the Allies take a real kicking. The end of the game came down to a bit of a mexican stand off, but Kenya managed to get the initiative on the turn it was needed and the Axis walker destroyed my last unit before it could react.

Malifaux vs Prim: loss (newbie inexperience, really.)
Warmachine vs Prim: loss (lucky shot at the end won it for him.)
The 40k game wasn't even close. Thunder Hammer terminators dont care about how tough wraithguard are once they get into assault with them and they smashed a bloody path through 2 full squads. In Malifaux, I was very happy with how my Cult of December crew worked with the addition of SnowStorm and a Silent One, much faster and a lot more choppy. Finally a win using Rasputina. As for Warmachine, I had terrible rolls for the entire turn until Black Ivan managed to drop a boosted shot right onto the head of whichever gribbly warcaster M_i_J was using. SPLAT!!

3000 points, WFB, High Elves (me) Vs. Beastmen (Pikey)
Sigh. I lost after 1.5 turns. Again, I went with an army that relied on magic buffing to turn the tide. My Dragon Princes tore through their target, but my Phoenix Guard and Spearmen both bounced off Pikey's beasts after my archmage failed to cast a single spell. I hate magic!

Cutlass, Royal Navy (me) Vs. Pirate Girls (Pikey)
Pikey's girls were looking for treasure, which they found and managed to drag off the board after several turns of trying to climb over a wall. All the time, the Royal Navy were blasting away with their muskets. Though I couldn't stop the scurvy gals from winning, I did manage to put a musket ball between the eyes of Pikey's "unkillable" first mate.

Malifaux, Viktorias (me) Vs. Ortegas (Pikey)
Things were looking pretty even until Papa Loco blew up and killed Perdita as well. After that, my outcast crew just had to clean up the rest of the shell shocked guild crew.

Cutlass, Royal Navy (me) Vs. Pirate Girls (Pikey)
This time it was the Navy's turn to look for treasure. This game was incredibly bloody, with models dropping like flies on both sides. Pikey managed to back himself into a corner and I was able to capitalise by denying him any reaction tests, so my last couple of able crewmen could run up and stab his pirate princesses to death. This game could have gone either way to be honest, but in the end I limped away with a win.
me_in_japan wrote:3000pts Spearhead vs Prim's CSM/Daemons (yesterday) : win to me.
My pre-game shooting didnt do squat as M_i_J's evil pointy ears didnt deploy. Then my carefully planned flanking manouver brought my killer units onto an empty table. My lesser daemons did nothing as they were always out of range, or in range to get charged without getting a shot off. My Lord of Change and Daemon Prince were able to wound M_i_J's horrible Grotesques with their Breath of Chaos, but generally speaking, my first outing with CSM was not that impressive. I think I managed to roll at the bottom end of the bell curve for every single thing I did. E.g. Passing 1 out of 6 4+ saves, causing 1 wound with 27 shots etc. That said, the Dark Eldar out manouvered me and countered all my little tricks at every stage, so I cant really blame the dice.... at least, not 100%.

All in all, a very busy few weeks with lots of good games and fun opponents. To those of you I beat, "better luck next time", and to those of you who beat me, "Revenge will be mine!!!"

This month started fast, but slowed down. Still, it looks to pick up.

At Ogaki, played Badruck. This was my second game at Ogaki in a week's time. We played Orks vs. Dwarves. I turtled and won due to lots of shooting. Badruck was a great sport and host, so a big Cheer to him.

I hope to play another game within a week against Kojibear and I've got Joshin day lined up. Should be lots of fun. :D

Good for you guys. Sounds like you had a lot of fun!

Just for the record, me, Justin, Rob, Sean, Rob's girls and ennui gamed on the 6th. We played RISK (won by Ennui coming out of Australia and Japan. Great choice of countries by the way.), then Pirates of the Spanish Main (won but the slyness of a submarine) and then we finished off with a story telling adventure game with an ork, 2 trolls, an assassin night goblin and a deranged human as the heroes.

Great day!

Malifaux

:D Played my first two Malifaux games with Prim. Loved it! I even managed a lucky win with the Outcasts thanks to beginners luck and some very unlucky flips for my gracious host.

The cards saw fit to balance out fate in the second game, where I learnt that what really counts in this game, is strategy. Well done Prim. I can't wait to play again! :D

WHFB

I played a lot of Warhammer Fantasy this summer. All my opponents were great. To sum up who I played:

:) :( Jus and the Vampires - Won 1 and Lost 1 - The first game I owe only to an unlucky miscast for Jus that
sent his Vampire Lord spinning into the void.

:) Rob and his Orcs and Gobbos - Won 1 This was one of Rob's introduction to fantasy games. I hope I was a
good teacher rob. (I love the goblins with nets btw!)

:) :( Prim and his High Elves - Won 1 and Lost 1 - Close games but a dragon was up me arse in the 2nd ;)
Poor Prim had a powerful Mages but the winds of magic were blowing in the
opposite direction.

:) Prim and his Vamps - Won - I played with Prim's High Elves :D Great game with lots of variety on the
table!

:) Job and his Dwarves - Won - Thanks to having a longer range for my bows and using the Sisters of Twilight
I managed to pull off this win. Poor Job had some awful luck with his
cannons.
As he said, the powder was rotten. I blame those mischievous forest spites,
they get into everything! :o

:( Frans and his Tomb kings - Lost - First time to play TKs. Lots of variety of units on both sides. But in the
end my inexperience with TKs proved my downfall...well..and some awful
strateg on my part, which I put down to SS, Sphinx Shock.
