The event is coming up soon! I'm getting excited. How many people have signed up for my Trail of Cthulhu game, by the way? I've got a couple of scenarios in mind that I want to run: one that I wrote myself and ran last month, and a published scenario by Graham Walmsley. I guess I'll decide by tonight/tomorrow and write up a short trailer for it.

Trail of Cthulhu uses a very simple dice mechanic: simply roll a d6 and beat a number (usually 3). There's a little more to it than that, but not a lot. The focus of the game is taken off of the randomness of investigation rolls and puts it on the actions of the players themselves.

I'm looking forward to running a game; I hope people are looking forward to playing! :D

I'd like to chthulu in the afternoon. notsure if id prefer Call or Trail of the betentacled one. Are there sufficient slots open that i could just turn up and toss a coin? Ill be there from 1ish, hopefully (right about when y'all are heading off for lunch, id imagine.)

I think there are 3 games, in succession. You won't need to choose between games if you're wanting to play an RPG. At least, that's what I gather.

I'm playing Trail of Cthulhu with hopefully at least one other player. Call of Cthulhu will be running too.
The whole event is based around people maybe attending, dropping out, changing their minds and then turning up at the last minute. So lets see what happens. We should have more than enough players for each game though.

Evening folks. All in, we should have about 9 or 10 attending tomorrow. If you aren't planning to come and change your mind feel free to drop by. It should be a laugh.
For now here is some retro ghost busters to get you in the mood and the trailer for the HPLHS movie.

A very big thank-you to Ash for organising this, and for everyone else for attending. Gomen for not coming in the morning, and thanks to Jesse for running (and Satoru, Jon and Aaron for playing) 7 Wonders. It's a very well designed game which I would definitely like to play again.

Special thanks also to Ash for supplying the really rather lovely Call of Chthulu rulebook as a prize for the quiz. It shall be pondered deeply and placed with great reverence upon the big Shelf of Tomes in my geek room, and possibly even taken out and used if I can wrap my head around running a scenario.

cheers, all!

I had a great time today! Thanks to Ash for setting up the event and picking up the prizes for the quiz. Oh, and for GMing my first game of Cthulhu as a player! Thanks also to everyone who played my game of Trail of Cthulhu and got the neutral ending. Hopefully we'll have more time next time for some Arkham Horror.

Some things I'd like to do in the future:
-Have people over for the next Japanese RPG Event on Nov. 13 (moving it to a Sunday, maybe that'll help?)
-Have an all day Twilight Imperium game day

Thanks again! I had a great time. :ugeek:

Thanks to everyone who took time out of their weekends to come and join the madness and san loss. We were lucky with numbers as 15 people turned up throughout the day which is more than we could have hoped for, cheers again.
It's not every gaming session you get to meet Great Cthulhu but I thought it was Halloween weekend and the 30th anniversary of the game so what the hell.
Here is a good rendition of a Polyp and the lightning gun for those who played the morning game: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iAFOrXS0bbg
This is dark corners of the earth for x box and pc. It was so difficult it took me a year to complete, it made me dizzy for days. The guy doing the walk through on you tube nearly went mad himself and could often be found swearing and crying as he plays. It's really quite crazy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xjjIJrLkq_o

Quiz Prizes and gaming props were found at http://www.Innsmouthhouse.com, HPLHS, and Chaosium.

I'll do another one at Christmas or New Year if there is interest but definitely next March.

Ennui, I will try to make the November event. I got seriously bollocked yesterday as I didn't bother to check my phone and my wife had called me about 7 times! Other than that it was great day. :D
Pics and videos of the event to follow later.
