Thanks! How about 1750 points? It's not too tight to try several tweaks in a roster and not big enough to allow multiple primary detachments.

1750 sounds great.

You want to work out a narrative scenario for the mission? I'll be bringing the orks of Waaagh Ripgorr with mercenary backup from my Tau exiles.

Do you have any idea for a scenario?
My list would have Coteaz as a HQ maybe with an Inquisitorial detachment, because I want to try my new Henchmen models. Imperial forces defending Formosa Sector from Waaagh! I guess.

I've got nothing elaborate in mind. Suggestions are welcome.

I guess Ripgorr is raiding for supplies and plunder as always. I'll make a suitably aggressive force to push up the board.
I think you should pick the more defensible table edge and I'll take the first turn unless initiative is stolen.
We should probably play for objectives, and put most of them on your side of the table.
If you have a fortification, you should consider bringing it.

It came to my mind that I have Battle Missions WD article at the release of Codex: Grey Knights. I've found "The Acceptable Losses" scenario suits the situation with slight changes. It involves Grey Knights arriving via Teleport to stop enemy commander's action, which leads to Daemonic incursion (intentedly or unintendedly).

Grey Knights choose deploy first. They deploy half of their forces first, in the area 12" deep from the long table edge and 18" away from short edges. Before deployment, GKs must put 4 teleport beacons within and/or around (6") their DZ.
GK must put half of their units in Reserves. They will arrive at the start of a turn of theirs (any of 1st, 2nd or 3rd), GK player wrote down and hide beforehand. GKs must Deep Strike if possible. If they can't, they come from their long table edge. If they DS within 6" of Tel/eport beacons, they don't scatter.

Enemy forces deploy within 12" of the other long edge.
Enemy's Reserves arrive from either of short table edges at the start of their first turn.

Enemy always go first.

The scenario uses Variable Game Length.
In the original version, only Kill Points counts for victory, but we would better give it a change. Sticking to the fluffs, won't we use Slay the Warlord, First Blood and Linebreaker like Eternal War missions and place one Primary Objective in GK's DZ?

Sounds like a fun mission.
We'll put in the usual secondaries. You want to use the 3 pt primary objective in addition to kill points or instead of kill points?
