@Ashmie - Sorry you couldn't make it down today.

@Komura - Thanks for the games. I'm looking forward to a rematch in November.

@All - Thanks for the company and the conversation. See you all at Joshin next month.

@ Lovejoy, MtP and Devana: Thanks for the game. I have to give it to Mike and Lovejoy. You guys were probably down in the 2nd turn after losing several squards of marines and elder, but you guys really made good decisions and came out with a convincing win. And Dekana, you were laying great firepower, but I kind of lost track of positioning my stuff, especially breaking off the Warlord for a moment. Opps. Good game all.

And thanks Dekana for the second game of 550 point 40k. At the least I learned about not starting a game swooping with a flying monster.

@ All: Good chatting. I hope to see more of you there, Jus.

Cheers everyone for the games! The first was a close run thing, Mike and I just edged it. Pretty satisfying given the shellacking we were taking at the start (coming on piecemeal from reserves is fun and makes for a great narrative but doesn't necessarily do you any favours) What with the threat from the incessant IG pie factory of doom and the crack-addled chaos dreadnoughts we did well to triumph, not much in it though. A fun, but gruelling game. Really must swot up on those rules.

Next up Jus and I played a 300 pt Killteam type game, 20 odd ork boyz and 3 kanz versus 2 five man squads of Grey Hunters. To look at the table it seemed like my wolves were woefully outnumbered, but crikey, they are resilient and counter attack is a great rule! I lucked out and managed to leather the kanz one by one and wipe out the boyz, four grey hunters left standing at the end. I really enjoyed this quick, tiny point level and would like to play more in this way in future, just the way to unwind after a bigger session.

Thanks all for the chat and stuff. Well done to Prim and Komura san on their first Samurai battles. It's good to see another interesting new era and gaming system getting up and running. Looking forward to next Joshin.

Ta' for the games folks. I really must have a good sit down and properly read the new edition rules and FAQs though.

P.S.i think I left my rule book and Codex behind. Can someone PM Kondo-san's contact details so I can check with him. :cry:

@Prim
Thank you for gaming at samurai era. Both rules are fun.
As I told, the pike & shotte rule is speedy. I'm also looking
forward to game again at November Joshin. And, I will progress
my samurai painting gradually.

@All
Thank you for chatting with me.
I can prepare small samurai game in
October Joshin. I can lend 5unit of
various samurai. You only bring there
dice & tape measures.

@Underdweller - Thanks for the fun down to the wire game. I was pretty lucky to have survived that first Tau torrent of fire that lead Shrike to taking down your Ethereal. I learned a lot about choosing where to assault. Being left out in the open to a Tau retaliation is NOT a good idea ;) ;) But the very fact that your Firewarriors earned the name 'Shrike Slayers' leads me to affirm that the Emperor does in fact NOT always protect lol ;) Thanks for the fun and laughs.

@Mike - Sorry I couldn't give you much of a fight mate, but I had you a little worried when Shrike and the Dread charged those bikes, eh :). The 3rd company were not prepared for those nasty rending shurikens. Needed to get stuck into comabt a turn eralier with Shrike and company eh. Sad I didn't catch your farseer when he nobly fled though. Shrike will have his revenge I am sure and most likely in the more capable hands of a Primarch ;) Thanks for the game. I now appreciate Eldar shuriken weapons much more, and how positively brutal Spiders are!

@Kojibear: Thanks for the game! Playing Tau and Tyranids together was an interesting combination, and I think made it a fairly even fight against Ravenguard. I think a big problem for me was the lack of control of the side which infiltrators came on - maybe I should have just reserved them normally.

I also need to read up on the rules some more - but I find more games is what really cements the knowledge in!

Playing without Battlesuits was not as bad as I thought due to all the buffs Fire Warriors can get now (There is no way they would have killed Shrike and his unit in the last codex)

But I will bring Battlsuits next time. :)

Thanks for the games folks! That first match really came down to the wire, and I felt like just one or two rolls near the end could have changed the outcome. It was the first time I brought the deathstrikes along, and although they didn't earn their points back, I was still happy with their effect (except for the missile that landed off the table - my commissars will be paying that deathstrike's driver a visit shortly). If only those jetbikes were on the table as available targets! Anyway, I'm sure the ICBMs will be making an appearance in future games.

For the second game, job was kind enough to lend me some cultists to proxy as veteran guardsmen. That was my first time running a list with troops in it, and what a different feeling it is from the all-tanks list! I'm pretty sure that demon would have torn them apart if he started on the table, but as it was the plasma veterans in chimeras performed very well. Now I'm even more anxious for my own troops to arrive (Sept-Oct apparently).

Cheers all, see you next time.

Thanks to Jus for getting in a few short games with me, and everyone for hanging out together.
The dice were not with me today. Next time I'll need to either have better luck or bring some of the meganobz.
