Joshin in February?
Re: Joshin in February?
@ToD - Are you going to bring the buildings for DzC?
I have and can bring all the stuff we'd need, but I'm also dungeon mastering later in the day so I want to reduce weight and bulk if possible.

Re: Joshin in February?
Thanks for the games, Auxryn, although I'm afraid I let myself get a bit frustrated at bad dice. It does seem like DzC is deeper than it appears at first glance - as you said, you really do have to think a turn or two ahead, and have an idea about how the various bits of your force are going to work together. More games are needed!!

Thanks to Jus and Underdweller for the games today and everyone else for the chance to chat and catch up.
Looks like the cat is out of the bag with my semi-secret project, so I will be putting up a thread for that in short order.

Stupid semi-secret project and its beautiful miniatures and freely-available rules...Primarch wrote:Looks like the cat is out of the bag with my semi-secret project, so I will be putting up a thread for that in short order.
Am I right that each race only has rules for their core and one other helix, plus an allied helix, available at all?

Re: Joshin in February?
So far, mainly because that is all that is available at the moment. (and two of the allied helices aren't out yet). Spartan have been updating them as new stuff gets released. The Other Dave wrote:Stupid semi-secret project and its beautiful miniatures and freely-available rules...Primarch wrote:Looks like the cat is out of the bag with my semi-secret project, so I will be putting up a thread for that in short order.

"Your Tyranids are unique and terrible." That would make a great signature.
Me and Stooge got in a fun little race. The two of us test-drove this home-brew scenario http://www.spiralbridgestudios.com/wp-c ... f-Race.pdf.
We have been kicking around the idea of running a big multi-player race and thought we might try this a run through first.
A quick run down of the action
The scenario does not use your whole mob, only a select few. So I loaded my bike with my hardest ladz. Stooge loaded his with his best driver-Ignatz aaaaand a couple of blunderbuss totin', brain-damanged Gobbos named Oogie and Boogie....... He loves those two Gobbos.

After 3 minutes of making revvin' noises, we are off! Ignatz takes an early lead, with Oogie and Boogie desperately clutching on for dear life.

There is an added rule to this scenario where drivers can't just pass another vehicle. Each driver has to roll-off, Ld+d6, winner scoots ahead. We go about a lap with my failing to edge by Ignatz.

Then disaster strikes! A failed Thrust test sees Ignatz crash into the wall and wreck his bike!

Again, there is an added rule to this scenario where immobilized vehicles are drug off the track into "Da Pitz" and the Meks work on them to get them back in the race. Can't disappoint the fans! I manage most of another lap while Stooge is getting his bike hammered back into shape.
Seeing I am half a lap from winning, Stooge takes the only strategic option left to him. That is he turns around and comes back at the SquatOrks at rammin' speed! The crowd goes wild!

But he misses! Ha, ha! Da winna!

A great day at the races. The scenario is really made for more than 2 players. 5 or 6 would be just mad, mad fun!

Re: Joshin in February?
Thanks to ToD for the games of DzC. I really need to think out my gating strategy with the Shaltari. It's a very complicated faction to play. Hopefully getting more medium gates painted will help.
I think we did play one rule wrong - apparently a close combat doesn't fight a second round until the next turn.
@Konrad - That sure is a nicely painted squat bike. We'll have to all race sometime.
