Some things are coming up that weekend that MIGHT put my position in jeopardy.
I'm trying to get others to arrange it for another day but since it's the first weekend after the kids all go on break, and the last weekend I'm in Japan it's getting tight. Will keep you updated. Really want to squeeze everything in!
Re: Da Ogaki WAAGH!!! July 27th 40k
Which version of the Apoc rules will we be using?
The old 4th ed. version?
The new 6th ed. version?
The old 4th ed. version with the updates from Imperial Armour Apocalypse for super heavies and gargantuan creatures?

Great question. Does any one have the new book?

Can I suggest we use the old 4th edition one? I think we are all in one way or another familiar with it. Currently I'm not in the mood to fish out cash to buy a copy from GW. Anyway, I think I may not be alone in still being unfamiliar with 6th edition rules as is. (Oh, but I have nothing against Imperial Armor stuff.)

The new book isn't out yet, but I think it is due before the event.
The IA rules just bring superheavies in line with the hull points rules in 6th ed. (One structure point = Three hull points).
Personally, I wasn't planning to buy the new rules, as 10,000 yen for something I won't use very much is kind of silly.

Re: Da Ogaki WAAGH!!! July 27th 40k
Tokyo GW is supposed running a new edition apocalypse battle this weekend and the store in Yokkaichi is running one the week after that. The new book is supposed to be out this weekend.
This in no way means I'm am buying one since I don't plan on playing many apocalypse battles since I have epic miniatures for that. And I doubt a download will be available by the time the ogaki events happens.
I could pick one up for someone if they have it in Yokkaichi this weekend and they could reimburse me. Then we all familiarize ourselves with it ASAP and are ready to slowly go out it in Ogaki....right?

As this is just over a week away, I thought I would give the thread a bump to remind everyone.
So, we're pretty much going with the old rules for Apoc then? As Job said, most of us are somewhat familiar with them.
Having played Apoc a few times before, what I don't want to see is just two lines of tanks/monstrous creatures running across the battlefield. It's dull and quickly becomes a case of who has the biggest guns/claws. A scenario which encourages movement on the table and tactics beyond rolling a bucket of dice will be helpful. It's always too easy to spend all your points on uber units and find that there isn't enough infantry on the tabletop, so rather than being a massive battle featuring vast armies you wind up with half a dozen special characters facing a handful of massive tanks. Not that there is anything wrong with massive tanks in Apoc, just that there should be lots of regular stuff on the table as well.

To maximize on my meager model count I will be bringing Ezekiel also. So, I'm claiming Belial and Ezekiel (although they play under pseudonyms wearing the regalia of the Angels of the Lion Sword).

For those of you travelling from Nagoya to Ogaki.
I will be catching the 8:27 from Kanayama and getting on the front car if you want to join/avoid me. The train gets to Ogaki at 9:05, so we should get to the venue around quarter past I guess.
