Yeah. They are running in Gifu too. Just between biwajima and Nagoya it has stopped. Just a warning things are late.

Well, despite an attack on the train line by Dark Eldar raiders we all made it to Ogaki for the game. Due to a few people cancelling we had unequal sides, 3 Vs 2. Luckily I had brought along a few extra super heavy tanks just in case. On one side of the table we had 6000 points of Tau, Eldar and Marines commanded by Primarch Vanguard, Underdweller and Kojibear. Facing them across the table was 5000 points of Dark Angels and IG under the watchful gaze of Job and yours truly. At random points in the game some Orks commanded by Badruck and Marcel arrived to cause trouble.
The game was played for kill points, with the Ork units being worth 3 each and everything else was one each.

Despite the vast points difference, meteor showers and a bunch of random events, the Dark Angels and IG pulled off a win with 22 Kill points to 20. Having three superheavy tanks (2 of them packing D strength main guns) certainly helped our cause, though one of them only succeeded in disarming a Hammerhead before being taken apart by meltas. The Hellhammer died mid game but the last Shadowdsword survived the game with 1 hull point left.

All in all, a fun game with good company and good food followed by a couple of beers afterwards.

Thanks to Badruck for organising everything and to PV for providing terrain to play over. Thanks to Job for putting up with me as a team mate and to our opponents for being such good sports and losing gracefully.

Sounds like an extremely fun time! So sorry I couldn't make it. With this being my last weekend, apartment cleaning, getting rid of items, and goodbye events clogged me right up. I wanted to wish you guys all the best as I head back to Canada for the near future. Though, if the fortunes of the job world don't smile upon me, I'll probably be trying to find work in Nagoya in the near future to rejoin y'all. :D

I am finally up and functioning after getting in at 6am and a night town. Felt like I was a casualty on the apocalypse battle today.
It was a great game with epic things happening; from Belial's bolter exploding and killing him to an ork boss on warbike taking out an eldar bomber jet. The game saw one side with a 1000 pt deficient but 3 super heavies vs none made up for it. It was my first experience with d weapons and one side having them and another side not having them makes a big difference. Prim brought super heavies in case one side had them and the other did not because the side with the most d weapons is usually who wins as he put it. I found out he was right. The game was surprisingly close though due to some lucky rolling and it was lost on the same account. Wish we'd had time to get to turn 4 since the game was swinging in our favor and one more turn would have left prim and job no models left and lots on our side since they only had 8 models left and we had loads of tanks and troops. Perhaps on second thought the 1000pt deficient really Was a big deal. Damn those trains for being two hours behind. Damn you!!!
Thanks to everyone for being good sports since things didn't go anyone's way really. Thanks rob for putting on an event that was fun and had great AC. Can't wait till next time.

Thanks for holding the event, Badruck, as always it was lots of fun!

For such a large game with so many "generals", everyone seemed to be really focussed and enjoying the game without taking it too seriously. Those Super heavies are pretty super, alright! The scale of the board also took some getting used to. I kept finding units I didn't realize were on the table hidden behind large pieces of terrain. As they would in a real battle, I suppose!

Also thanks for lunch, and to PV for providing lots of terrain for us to hide behind!

from Belial's bolter exploding and killing him
Yeah, that was funny.

And, it was a very close thing. I was pretty sure you guys had it, but between Prim and his Shadowsword and all of the Ork NPC kill points showing up around our units, the DA pulled it off. A lot of it may be due to Prim's tenacity. Anyway, I have to give kudo points to Badruck for designing a VP condition that ended up really changing the outcome of the game in an interesting way.
