Epicstravaganza Four: Early Plannings

Post by The Other Dave » Thu Feb 20, 2014 11:50 pm

I'm thinking it may be about time to start planning another Epic event, so here's the scheduling / seeing who can come thread.

Looking at my own schedule for the next few months, anything before June is going to be pretty busy, so how are people for some weekend in June? Chances are good that we'd be looking at a Saturday again, although I'm moving in April and may look for a community center nearer my new place - it's actually right nearby where I live now, so using the same venue is also a possibility, as I like its convenience to public transportation. It looks like there's another nearer my new place that is open on Sundays and has a big room, but is a bit farther from a subway station. I'll have a think.

New Stuff I'm Thinking About

Scenarios! The Grand Tournament scenario is fun enough, but I think there's plenty of room for branching out and trying some fun variants, especially now that more people are getting more comfortable with the core rules. To that end, over the next few months I'm hoping to test some scenarios I've cobbled together from Flames of War, and will see if I can get them to work in the Epic context.

Prizes! A Prize. One. Sort of. I have this Iron Warriors army I've been sitting on, and it looks like it's up for grabs. So I think I'll use it myself on the day, and then give it to whoever did best in their games that day and also wants it and would use it. If people think it's a cool idea, I'm tempted to make this an every-time thing: grab a cheap Marine or Ork lot off eBay, paint it up for the event, and give it away as a prize.

So: How are people for June? Saturday or Sunday? Let me know!

I'm interested, but so far I have no idea about my June schedule. Depending on how the whole house buying thing progresses, I might be really busy, I might not. Sorry I can't give you a definite answer.

I'm very keen! It'll give me a reason to paint my bloody orks!

If it's a Sunday , I'll try my best to be there.

Most interested. Will certainly do my best to come. I got a copy of "Final Liberation" off an abandonware site and was playing that for a bit. That and that new Knight thingie and AGP's titans are putting my brain into an Epic groove.

Put me down as a tentative 'Yes'. Either day is OK but I'd prefer Sunday.

I would be interested, of course! Saturday is better for me, ironically because it is a work day. But a Sunday might be possible, too.

So's I can keep track: That's two folks who prefer Sunday (Spevna and Mike), one who prefers Saturday (Underdweller) and four who have no particular preference?

Put me down as a tentative 'yes', depending on how my work schedule pans out.
