February Nagoya Games Day - 2/23 at e-Able Nagoya

Post by The Other Dave » Mon Jan 20, 2020 12:29 am

Hey everyone!

February's games day will be the same venue it's been in for a while, e-able in Higashi-Betsuin. As usual, we'll have the room from 9am to 4pm-ish, and it'll be 500 yen to take part if you play any games. New people are of course extremely welcome to drop by!

As I said at the tail end of the January thread, I think I'm going to be focusing on Underworlds in the lead-in to NagoyaHammer, so I'll be bringing that and WarCry (since they share a case) and can demo either or both of them!
Feel free to call me Dave!

Since I haven't been playing 40k much lately I'm probably going to focus on 40k till Nagoyahammer.
Other than practice for Nagoyahammer I'd also like to organise a "small" game of Apocalypse.
I have all the components required so all you need is to bring your 40k minis. The datasheets are available here. List building is similar to 40k, just follow the guidelines on the datasheets (or use Battlescribe) .
So far I'm thinking of something along these lines.
  • 2 teams of 2-3 players each
  • 100PL (2000 points) per player
  • 4 by 6 table
  • nothing too crazy from Forgeworld
At that scale it shouldn't take much longer than a normal team game of 40k. So I'm going to put this into my morning slot and I'd also like to play a regular game of 40k, maybe even a team game if there's time, in the afternoon.

If you have questions such as about building a list for apocalypse feel free to ask.

I should be able to come all day in February.

In an attempt to get a handle on at least one set of rules, I would like to play 40K in the morning, afternoon, or both. The usual Nagoyahammer style team game would be good.

Otherwise, some Kill Team or Malifaux, or any kind of skirmishy game would be good.

If anyone's up for playing against unpainted models, I am really eager to take the Sisters out for a spin in a larger game of 40k - I wouldn't mind serving as an example 1300pt force for Nagoyahammer practice, or even a 1500+ game if anyone is keen.

Will have skirmish games in the bag too as usual :)

I’ll probably be able to come. I’ll be looking for 40k mostly. However, I think Primarch had one other plan for February...

@ Karantu: Tempting idea... but I’d exactly want to awaken one of my war machines if I play....

@job if we can get 3 players per team it should be okay as long as you don't bring anything bigger than a Warhound I guess.

@Jye depending on how long the Apocalypse takes I would be more than happy to play against some unpainted SoB. We could change the points limit depending on how much time there is if you don't mind prepping multiple lists.

@The Other Dave

I should be there for the morning at least. I'd be interested in learning about both Warcry and Underworlds, more so Warcry though. Do you think both are do-able in one morning?

Absolutely - they're both 30-45-minute games, so with breakdown and setup we should be able to get a game of each in a couple hours.

(If anyone else is interested, I could absolutely GM either or both games between two new players too.)

I will be there next month. I have a town meeting on the same day, but I have managed to negotiate things with my wife so she will attend it, leaving me free to play games.

If you think you'll have your forces ready, we can try Rebels and Patriots. I should have enough of my stuff painted by then. Do you have a preference for morning or afternoon?

Can do! I'll skirmish it up in the morning then.
