Well, with the new rules coming out, I guess I can give 10th a whirl*. My Iron Warriors have yet to see a tabletop, so I will bring them along provided their cards are all available.

1000 points seems a reasonable level to shoot for. While Combat Patrol is meant to be the intro level for the new edition, it does have slightly different rules and cards, so I'm fine with playing a smallish game of the full system rather than 40k-lite.

*I am trying to be positive, but I make no promises that I will continue playing 10th after this first foray. :D

I believe we'll have the indexes for everyone and matched play missions but not Combat Patrol rules, so we're locked in to using full rules (at least if the pattern from that leak holds). We could play 500pt games on half size tables though and just bodge whatever doesn't fit. That's be easier space and learning wise but probably be less kind to balance.

It's not compulsory - good on you for giving it a go

I’m planning to attend this month.

If we are all trying out 10th, I can bring along 1000 points of Eldar - heavy on dinosaurs 🦖

So as it looks like we'll have 10th edition rules and indices (but probably not combat patrol rules?), what's the consensus? A whole bunch of 500 point games to collectively figure out the rules? A smaller number of 1000 point games to get a more-accurate feel for 10th As She Is Played? I sort of suspect we'll need to think seriously about table real estate in our plan-making.
I'm a little more inclined towards playing 1000pt games just because that's what the missions will be balanced around and it also lets us try out a few more of our units at a time

Either way I'll bring a few 1000pt armies and be very flexible.

I think we should aim for 1000 and run 2v1 or 2v2 (whether 2*500 or 2*1000) if we need to in order to make sure everyone gets a game. That way we use the same amount of tables, boards and scenery either way.

Of course if more folks are playing 10th and less other games we'll have more tables, the constraint will more be in having enough scenery that people's impressions of the game aren't based on Planet Bowling Ball

Either way I'll bring an arbitrary number of Marines so I:ll have loaner forces/options.

My attendance is looking more likely at this point. Sean (my eldest) is very keen, Noah (the youngest) is possibly less so but he'll be damned if his brother gets something he doesn't, so will probably come along too. Still need to confirm with Mrs MiJ, mind you. If we do come, we'll play 10th and get things wrong along with the rest of you.

No plans to try 10th, but I will swing on out if only to see the DinoPanzees on the board!

Sean and I (and maybe Noah) will be attending 👍 Am I right in thinking we should bring 500pts, maybe 1000pts of nu-40k and just grab games as and when opponents become available?

That seems to be where I'm at with my planning.

Maybe pack a little terrain if you can? If everyone brings something then we should have enough to play with.

Roger that. Me and a couple of pack mules should be able to fit some terrain in somewhere 👍
