You missed a honking great mould line on her sword arm, but other than that, I like it. I'm not seeing the blue in the armour, but I can see the transition to darker brown lower down (wasn't sure if that was actually there or just the photo.

I think it's coming out dark because the camera is adjusting itself for flash photography and then, because there's nothing behind the model, it's not getting as much light back as it thinks it is.

Personally, I'd go for a greater contrast between armour plates and the body glove, but I can see an argument for not doing so.

Not sure I'd have gone for the flaming orange loincloth and the bright blue hair. Perhaps one or the other, or tone one of them down. Are you going for traditional Aspect colours, or the new-fangled "paint my Apsect Warriors in craftworld colours" route?

any particular reason you went for a top to bottom colour change?
yeah, was trying for summat called Global Highlighting, and to be fair to myself I did actually achieve it. It basically amounts to having the lower and back parts of the mini darker than the front/top. This means the head/chest are the lightest part of the mini and draw the eye most. You see it a lot in fantasy art.
She looks like she has a very deep belly button.
she does.
Overall, the mini looks like you've put in a lot of effort.
not really. About 6 hours, maybe? I have ten of these wee buggers to do. Dont want to go overboard on em.

yeah, that was past-me's mistake. My banshees were stuck together ages ago for gaming purposes, and I had assumed that since I had assembled the mini, I had cleaned off all the mould lines properly, as thats my usual modus operandi, but I found a ton of flash and mould lines after I airbrushed em all. Cant be arsed cleaning em up now, as it would mean stripping them all and starting again (and I've already airbrushed the other 9 minis) Fair point, though.

I considered it, and it is usually how I do aspect warriors, but truth be told it takes bloody ages and means you cant airbrush it. I'll see if the plates show up better with better pics.

I hadnt intended to do an orange loincloth, but when Id painted everything else she looked boring, so I threw in some extra colour. I was going for kinda new-fangled tradition aspect colours, inasmuch as she's kinda banshee colours, but toned down a bit (and blue hair).

I'll do another one with orange hair and see how it looks.

Thanks for the comments, folks :)

I was thinking that when I looked at it. "Hey, MIJ was looking at some old Frazetta paintings." It think if the bone/brown was warmer and the grey/blue was cooler, bump up the contrast 15%, it will be clearer about what you're about. Once the base is done, it will help.
Also, remember most of the time the viewer is looking for "realistic", "natural" colors. This sort of highlighting is a step towards the abstract and I think will be pretty tough to pull off. Looking forward to seeing the continuing experiment. I am going to try something like that on my next Amazon.

Seeing your WIP Banshee makes me wish my Eldar weren't back in America. Not that they're playable in this edition. My whole army has a total of zero troops. >.<

I've been terrible about painting recently, just doing bits and pieces of a terminator unit sitting on my work table. I know a Deathwing player has no excuse whatsoever not to finish squads

Maybe I'll put together a foam mountain or a ruin tonight while I watch a movie. Terrain requires so much less concentration than painting.

meh, that's alright. The painting bug tends to come in fits and starts for most folks anyway. If you aint in the mood, dont feel compelled to paint. Watch a movie or chill out or whatever.

yeesh, for you, maybe, but making terrain is a full-vacation activity for me. I dont even think about doing it unless I have a clear run of two weeks and a guarantee of non-interference from the missus...

Assembled and undercoated the Mie Bunny Allstars with Chaos Black Spray courtesy of Town Crier shop Nagoya. Thanks Ikeda San, great stuff.
The girls will be ready for Sundays trials and hopefully if they do well locally they might make it to the Winter Blitz league, or the Mondo playoffs. Hmm early days.

Where can I find the info and starting stats for Amazon team? @ Admiral, MIJ?

Why would Banshees need a belly button on their armour. Surely it would weaken the whole piece?

Last night I got some work done on some necron warriors. Dang they're easy to paint.
Today I sorted through my games room and threw out some junk that had been piling up (offcuts of polystyrene, chopped up foam and dead sprues, not models).
