I'm afraid I only have 2 slashers (although they're just called "gargants" under the current rules) to go with my 2 great gargants. And 7 stompers, a dozen looted rhinos, 18 or 20 gunwagons, 6 flakwagons, and only about 5 or 600 boyz.

And how many points would that run to? How long would a game that size take to play?

Well, the "all the orks I have" above would actually break the force organization rules, since it's got more than 33% of the points in gargants - drop it to one great gargant and it'd be a legal 7000-ish points, keep it in and it'd be a slightly-illegal almost-8000. That's big, but wouldn't take more than 5 or 6 hours, I bet. I've heard of folks playing 10,000 point games taking a whole day.

Sunday we'll be doing 3000 points, so all the Admiral will get is 120 boyz, 40 nobz, 40 grotz, 50 stormboyz, 12 battlewagons, 15 gunwagons (including 2 big meks who upgraded their 'wagons to mount soopaguns), 3 flakwagons, 6 stompas, a kult of speed with 8 buggies and 16 warbikes, and 5 big gunz. A small game.

Of course, on the other hand, I can field a 3000-point force with 12 models.

6 of them are titans, but still...

Hah, in 40k I can field a 3000 point army with 6 models. :D
Epic and 40k are totally different games. Saying that Epic is better for big scale battles is true as that is what epic is for, but I dont think a standard size epic game has quite the same feeling as a good apocalypse game.

That's a fair point - there's something to be said for the sheer coolness factor of a whole crapload of 28mm models on the table. Epic vs 40K is apples and oranges, really (heck, so's 40K vs Apocalypse, for that matter). I'd be the last person to say one was objectively better than the other. (Subjectively, of course, I think Epic beats the pants off 40K, but that's something else. ;))

And I agree that the "standard" 3000 points is a bit small for a really great game of Epic - models are a bit thin on the table, especially if you're using Marines. (Heh, kind of like 1500 points for 40K often feels a bit small, I guess - is that even still the standard game size according to the rulebooks?)

Well I love the 40k models I have to say that I do not really like the game that much as compared to Blood Bowl or even Necromunda ... but the models and the scale are that good that I will forgive the fact that the game is not as fun as the others...

Taking part in a huge sweeping battle of Epic would be both fun and great to look at.
