I am of the other side of the spectrum... My wife is Likely to buy them for me. I reall am looking forward to the final quote right now I am in negotiations.

As for the painting. I will still be panting the models but I will be doing the fun part touching then up shading highlighting weathering and free handing. If the price is right I will be getting it done for less than the high school kid I had under coat the Orks I sold to Tau rebels (aka John). A few years back. He was actually happy with the job that high school kid did. That cost me ¥1000 an hour.

I would get a quote from these guys too Admiral:

www.worthypainting.com
info@worthypainting.com

Just see if they can offer the same. If you are going to pay 1000 dollars or there abouts for table top standard, I would want it to be a 'nice' table top. No?

Oh and apparently blue table send the models wrapped only in bubble wrap, not encased in foam, so breakages are common. Apparently.

Including the models I could get 500 points of Orks for just under. ¥70,000 yen.

Unassmbled and un painted from GWJ they would cost me ¥45,100

From that point of view Blue table painting is not too bad of a deal.
I assume that this price is their level 2 quality?:

Level 2- Just the Basics $5.00-$6.00 Paint applied to whole model Two levels of shading (dark and light) Minor errors are evident at 18 inches. No eyes. Looks good across the table presented as a whole unit.

Sure, the quote for me was after I have sent the models and they are already assembled and primed white so that 1400 dollars is all on their best quality painting and a highly specialised army based on the house of Johannes Teugan of Bogenhafen. I will probably not bite this time but I will definitely keep them in mind for future. All in all I have been impressed by their fast communications and business style.
Admiral, if you go ahead with your order be sure to let them know you heard about them from me. That way me and the other Nagoyahammer members might be able to get discount in the future. 30 percent off the models for first time customers if you are buying from them as well as having a painting service applied, Admiral don't forget to ask for this otherwise he wont apply it.

My original idea though was, between the lot of us we have the skills and the means to try a venture like this, perhaps in the future. I reckon you need a group of 8 to 10 full timers to make a profit. As many of you have pointed out you reckon you could do a better paint job. Speed and organisation would be the key as well as enthusiasm for the venture. If it would be a hassle then the venture would automatically fail.

For now I'm going to paint one front rank of Bogenhafen infantry and see if I can achieve what I had imagined I would get from bluetable. Then if it's shoddy I can perhaps have them do one unit instead of all of them.
Here is what I'm aiming for; simple colours but excellent and outstanding. Check the Bogenhafen unit in purple halfway down. Mike I might need advice on painting purple armies.

@Ashmie - Good luck with the painting. I am sure it will look better than if you had them done conveyer belt style. The painting company would be a fantastic venture, but like anything, the 3 Ps - Passion, Planning and Perseverance! :D The first step would be to spread Nagoya Hammer's existence, possibly by filming battle reports. People love that.

@Admiral - Sorry to be so negative, bud. I really hope you are happy with the end result :D I have just seen too many negative reviews of their quality in the net to trust them. The owner and contact staff are super friendly and professional, the painters though...not so much.

According to their videos, the majority of their painters are part timers with other jobs or studies.

Sure, lol, show me a friendly, happy artist and I'll show you a failed artist. :D
Here's to beautiful melancholy. :D

(Joking aside) Perhaps it's pot luck who paints your models and depends on how busy they are. I think the most impressive thing for me is the fast turnaround they do and the quick time they get it done. I was more impressed with their marketing and you tube channel than anything else. Just goes to show sometimes we just want to throw money at people and companies we like. Remember when we all loved GW? Remember those heady days of 10,000 en for a battalion box. Ah we were young and foolish.

Let us know how the order goes Admiral, that's awesome, still pondering mine. Let them know you heard about it from me and please ask for your 30 percent off for first time customer on the models. You are entitled to it, you just need to ask them.
Might just have the one unit done and then see if I can do the rest. I think one of my units was 400 dollars alone. (45 models).

@koji: Thanks, I've sent my request to worthy painting too. Lets see what their prices are like for the same order. :)
