@tenorikuma - eeh, there's a lovely horsie. Really nice work on the colouration and the dapples.

@koji - desert themed marines is a good un, and nicely applicable to red scorps, too. You dont need to use the official colour scheme, in fact, i think your idea is better.

I just now typed up a bunch of paint recipes for deserty brown, but then I actually looked at the marines tenorikuma linked to. Yah. Just do what he did. Looks good :D

incidentally, my advice when you want to match a paint colour is to just buy the paint. Saves time and effort, and if youre doing an army (which you are) itll save you heaps of headaches down the line when you want to add a new squad and cant quite recall the colour mixes you used 6 months ago. VMC do a huge range of military type colours (theyre for military modellers) so that's where I would look. The website tenorikuma linked to lists the paints used at the bottom. (Maelstrom Games: free worldwide shipping if you spend over a tenner. That's where I get all my paint from.)

ps - do you have any sternguard/vanguard veterany types that I could maybe snag? Or did badruck hold on to a few? I aint gonna be heartbroken if I dont get em, as theyd just be going into the vast pit of despair that is my "to-do" box.

Yesterday I spent the day working on the translation manuscript while distracting myself with 2 MST3k movies and Young Frankenstein. Then we went to celebrate my mother-in-law's birthday at the in-law's.

Today: Blade of Arcana with my Japanese group! I'm totally excited. But first, a furious round of cleaning...

Well, let's hope I can do you and the army justice with my painting efforts!

I think I have the GW colours that will work well:

Dheneb Stone
Khemri Brown
Graveyard Earth
Snakebite Leather
Kommando Khaiki
Bleached Bone
Dwarf Flesh
Macharius Solar Flare Orange
Scab Red + Blood Red

Now I just have to work out in what order and ways to use them!

Today I watched a game of 40k (M_i_J Vs. JoB) and then I played a large game of Dust Tactics with Jus, DL and M_i_J. Thanks to the Jump Packin', Bazooka Blastin', Rocket Punchin' allied squad o'doom DL and I were able to turn some rotten luck in the first couple of turns into a solid victory for the allies.
Dust Tactics, ace game!
I'll probably glue some more Necrons together this evening, or maybe do some basing on some WW2 ruskies.

I had a, truth be told, rather embarrasing game of 40k against Job today. Embarrasing because poor ol' job had luck which could only be described as vile. I mean, when you shoot your Predator's 2 lascanons and 1 twin-linked lascannon and they all roll 1s, then the twin linked re-roll rolls a 1, too, you know it's gonna be one of those games, and for job, it unfortunately was.

Thanks for the game, job - it was my first in a long while and it was good to get the eldar back out onto the tabletop. The D-cannon tank is now well onto my v.g. list, and the shadow spectres have redeemed themselves after their previous dire performance against Prim a while back.

As Prim said - we also had a game of Dust Tactics in the afternoon - thanks to him, Dlord and Jus. Gomen Jus - it certainly seems that whenever we team up Bad Things happen :(

Another 6 Prussians based and dipped.
