Apparently you can still call it "The Dominion of Canada" if you want to. (although I thought dominion meant a grocery store until I was about 12 years old, so it is not too common)

Hmm, Canada beat New Zealand by 4 years - we got our Constitution in 1982, and it is a real constitution, not some sort of half-baked thing

Well, tonight I mostly worked on the cultist beastmen and did a bit of work on the Blood Slaughterer which is pretty much where I like it.

Nice work on both the slaughterer and the tights. I think in this case the holdy-upy bits are called garters, not suspenders.
Personally I've been hitting a wall trying to find a good edge highlight for my UCM. None of the colors I had really fit the olive green I used as a base. I've tried a sort of khaki but I don't really like it. I even went to the city and picked up a few shades of lighter olive green, but they are so close to the original shade I don't see much point. I could mix up something myself, but it would make the paint job difficult to replicate when I later expand the army. I am strongly considering just not doing any edge highlighting. The models don't really need it.
Here's some of my work so far: Of course without the labor-intensive highlights, I risk finishing the whole army in a month or so.

Re: What did you do today.
As Spevna says, played Rogue Trader today for the first time since about 1988.
The proceedings were accompanied by beers, whiskeys, and music- including the Bolt Thrower album Realm of Chaos. At least, until we got sick of it (after about 3 tracks, then. Although we both agreed 'World Eater' has a great riff).
For this trip down memory lane, we only really stuck to the basics (no psionics, vehicles, or complicated weaponry apart from a few heavy weapons), but it was surprisingly clean and simple once we had readjusted to the oddness of using d10s for damage, encumbrance, paying half an inch to move 90 degrees, etc.
We played the Battle for the Farm scenario, using Spev's amazing board, and his entirely old school RT minis.
As the thing is written, and as Oldhammer bloggers have noted, you wouldn't have a chance at all as orks if you went by the book - 21 troops including a fairly fighty boss with a plasma pistol as the only thing approaching a heavy weapon - versus 15 Space Marines with Pedro Cantor and a Missile Launcher!
To balance things up, as Orks I was allowed a heavy bolter, missile launcher, and a couple of reserve squads to bring the boys up to around 30. I was also allowed to recycle the heavy weapons and bring them on again, and it was a much closer match up that way. Pedro Cantor took a krak missile where the sun doesn't shine, as is only proppa, which pleased me no end.
++edit++ would be amiss of me not to mention the climactic ending, where the Ork leader, Thrugg, killed his knife wielding marine assailant..and was killed in the process. He went out like an ork should. This meant that there were no models left on the ork side with objectives, so, with only 3 marines left and around 8 orks now scratching their heads wondering what in Gork's name they were doing, (not that Gork exists yet) it looked like the beakie scum had actually carried the day! ++
The orks did alright, and took slightly less of a pasting than the marines, but there wasn't much in it really.
I was really impressed with the differences. Orks can actually shoot in RT (BS3), can use decent weaponry, and their Marine enemies are easier to put down (4+ Armour and T3). The late 80s were a good time to be an ork, indeed..
Very enjoyable day, cheers Mr Spevna! This RT odyssey is to be continued, hopefully.

Yes, World Eater.. Worth a link I reckon, if anyone is curious as to what 40k themed metal sounds like.

And this glorious, ridiculous slice of aural Hammer Horror also got a few plays as the farm ran with blood. Astaroth!

Re: What did you do today.
Awesome as usual, MiJ, and the Rogue Trader game sounds like a hoot. I had that album on cassette!
I got a bunch of work done on the first demi-squad of my guardsmans for ASC.

(There's also a grenade launcher done, but he doesn't stand up on his own.) Have to finish up the skin, put some edging on the green, and add some gunmetal here and there, but that's basically that. The boots need a wash of some sort, but their fatigues look a lot less flat in person.
