With a big happy smile on my face, too.
re: kharn, my advice would be:
1) keep the backpack, but paint it white. It shouldnt be a focal point, and should thus be done in the majority colour for the mini.
2) the gun needs shading in black inck or similar. Use oil paints if you feel compelled to do so, but make it a wash, and make it a black one. When that's dry (in about 2 days...), do the same thing with burnt umber or any dark brown. Then when that's dry (a further 2 days later) add some clour with dark purple or dark blue patches. These patches should not actually be visible per se, but they should be there. (I'd recommed regular GW washes for this, on account of them drying faster, btw...)
3) Shade the white with blue. (as you have mostly done) If you shade with grey it looks washed out and dull. The blue should be a mid blue (not a pale one) and it should ONLY be around the edges of things. for example:

4) you need to shade the blue trim a lot more. Get some very dark blue (
like this and thin it down a fair bit. Paint it neatly over all of the blue bits, wait for it to dry, and then go over all the blue bits again with
ultramarine blue or whatever you did it with originally. This time, leave a smidgeon of the darker blue around the edges. This will help define the blue bits.
5) paint more neatly. There are plenty of blue bits on white areas that need to be tidied up. Especially if youre working with oils, theres no reason for these to be there as you have all the time in the world to clean them off with a clean turped brush.
if you do all of the above, then he'll be lookin' loverly in no time
sorry if it all sounds a bit negative, but I'm looking at it with a critical "how would I improve this if it was mine" eye. It's looking fine, really, it's just not finished yet.
