I went up to Joshin today and started the muster of the remnants of Gryphonne IV:
The Scythes of the Emperor, in repayment to the Adeptus Mechanicus for saving their chapter with an infusion of the new Primaris marines, have launched a crusade to help what's left of the forces of Gryphonne IV (with whom they have a particular solidarity in the shared experience of loss of a homeworld to the Great Devourer) scout out, conquer, and found a new forge world. Praise be to the Emperor! Praise be to the Omnissiah!
(This plus the get started set I ordered from Plamojuku in Ichinomya (got to get that sweet 20% discount) will give me a very comfortable patrol detachment to use together with my marines. Hooray for new projects!)
Feel free to call me Dave!

Does Joshin have a big selection? I'm asking... for a friend.*
*That's obviously a lie. As Pikey will happily tell you, I have no friends.

Sadly no, pretty small and pretty random - the only thing you can really count on them, Yellow Submarine or Yodobashi having are the starter and easy build sets. It’s probably worthwhile to drop in and check if you’re in the area (or need paints) but not just for browsing. I’d been by on the weekend and knew they had a box of Skitarii in stock.

I spent some time this evening applying a brown wash to a large mob of vikings. Hopefully they'll be done by the end of the month.

That is only because you fail to appreciate our scruffy looking nerf herder's passion for Star Wars.

I mean you and I were almost friends once until you said Star Trek Voyager had about as much depth as a rain puddle in the Sahara at midday.
*Actually, he is kind of right, but don't tell him that.*
I put together a space marine tonight.
@The Other Dave - you assemble those plastics like the flash after a redbull.

Look forward to seeing them all painted up.

A day off well spent!

(Assembling them did give me an appreciation for GW's new move towards single-pose models, though - knowing I'll eventually have to put together 20 more of the buggers makes my blood pressure go up just thinking about gluing all those frigging arms on...)

But, but... assembling minis is the best part, no?

But, but... assembling minis is the best part, no?
The fiddly three-point contact of shoulder-shoulder-weapon will
haunt my dreams.
And not in a good way either.

Would you like me to build them for you?
Seriously though, I can if you want.

Heh, I'll live, but thanks for the offer.

It's just that going back to these after the newer models, with their tabs and slots on the shoulders that ensure everything lines up right, really makes me appreciate the tabs and slots.
