Dipped figs... humm they look good but MIJ has nothing to fear... but I truly think they look better than a lot of dipped models I have seen. I may be the biggest fool on the planet but I am going to try to not use D-Mud. on anything. I will use the other washes but D-Mud gets wait too much love.... That said I can see why.

dude, I use devlan mud on pretty much everything I paint. Its not so much that I use it as an all-over wash, but it is perfect for smoothing transitions on greens, browns and creams (lots of those on nurgle, cryx and eldar wraithbone) and it does the business on gun metal, too (again, cryx and nurgle). Its not the only way to colour stuff, but theres a lot of things in this world that look better after a warm-but-too-warm-brown tinting.

Devlan Mud and Badab Black are, in my opinion, essentials.

I just think of it like this it looks good no questions about it but there is a too much hype over the stuff. i have a pot of it and I will trade it for ogryn flesh any day if you have ogrin flesh and would like to trade it for D-mud I will trade you any day of the week.. this goes for anyone. if you want my D-mud I will trade it to you I have not used it in ages...

But then what would I use for a flesh wash?

Of course, you have to remember that the point of dipping is not to produce something that can compete with what MIJ does. It makes something that looks great in massed ranks, and makes it very very quickly - nobody's ever tried to claim that a dipped model can compete side-by-side with a model somebody took the time to paint up to a great standard.

If you don't understand the hype, you aren't using it properly. You know that it goes on the miniatures and not in your moutn right? 8-)

I've never dipped myself. I never rush and try to finish an "army", I just like painting figures. If MIJ is "glacial", my painting progress can be measured in geological epochs. Never used D-mud, but I do use old Citadel brown ink that I've had for years and never seems to run out in spite of being used constantly. Recently been thining it with matte medium. Dark brown ink is my miracle fix. If I need a quick shadow or outline, slap some dark brown on it, goes good with anything.
I just got some Ogryn flesh wash. A bit too redish for miracle fixing, but nice for lips. (Minatures lips! Not mine! I prefer pink.)

My bad I must of taken it wrong the dipping is for the models I was dipping my chips in it...   oops. But really I am still more compacied with the results from the other washes... the Blue one and the green one are just great... If they had a proper yellow one that would be best. but I like all them just as good if as D-mud yet D-mud gets all the attention... not fair I tell you not fair at all...
