I believe Jye is using mainly Contrasts for his sororitas,
Yeah, I'm All Contrast All the Time with the exception of metallics and washes for the metallics.

I *have* some of the traditional paints that I bought early on and a half finished drop pod but going straight contrast and not having to worry about things like palettes and thinning is just so much better for throughput, which is my #1 priority.

@Mattb your minis look much better than mine, but I agree with the others that you should always post anyways. I've come to really value the feeling of posting here as the last step, and the desire to post here regularly helps motivate me to keep going, even if everyone else is producing works of art and I'm just hiding primer

Progress wise I've been working steadily on an Exorcist and it takes ages. I originally started using a lot of Apothecary White on the statuary for a marble like effect but it's just too hard to paint around it neatly and I can't be bothered fixing mistakes with wraithbone --> more AW so there's already a fair bit of pivoting back to the same combos of Basilicanum Grey/Blood Angels Red/Retributor Armour/Leadbelcher. Also heading out to Plamojuku today to prime stuff I'm hoping to use next week (Nurgle willing) - Fenrisian Wolves and more terrain.

I finally got my first Riptide to a level I'm comfortable with fielding it in games. I'm probably not going to put it in any lists anytime soon but its good to get it out of the way. Next I need to focus on making sure that my Crusade lists are fully painted. My resolution for the new edition is to only field painted models, which shouldn't be too hard at low point levels.
I enjoyed our slugfest of Sisters vs Tau where we busted out all those models we'd assembled but not painted, but yeah - going to try to not need to do that again

Riptide is looking great, and I look forward to the nightmare it'll be on the field with nervous anticipation.

Speaking of! I'll have some new pics to post soon, as soon as I get through the ding-dang base decoration.

(Semi-philosophical question: Should the Tainted Cohort count as a "named character" in Crusade? It's a fixed datasheet with a proper noun for a name...)

I think all of us are side-eyeing this thread, getting worried about what everyone else is painting up. A Riptide? An Exorcist? Leman Russes? *nervously goes back to painting Blightlord Terminators, eyes that alternate Plagueburst Crawler model from Miniature Scenery*
Most of the vehicles I expect to take at Combat Patrol level are just transports, not even worth taking anti-tank for! I did consider painting a Repulsor in Scythes colours and starting with that as the only thing actually on the field but it's a bit silly.

More seriously I expect we'll do a bit of rock-paper-scissors with different lists as we're levelling different things up, a real takes-all-comers list doesn't fit into 25PL so we'll all be fielding something with weak points.

Huh. Edit is not post, etc.

Anyway! I've finished up my 3-man squad of easy-build terminators, leaving 1 model to finish up for my 50-point order of battle (and, hopefully, a bit more terrain, although TBH I have more than enough for a double kill team board already).

Even if they're a unique unit they don't really have any special rules or anything that make them better than their generic counterparts so I think it should be fine you treat them as a generic unit in Crusade. As in they could gain experience and stuff.

Agreed. The tradeoff for named characters is a free Warlord Trait, which they won't be able to get, so they should get XP imo.

Today was terrain day. I finally got around to painting those mdf shipping containers I had. The saturation on my camera is a bit on the high side so hopefully they don't look too bad on the tabletop. I want to take them to a game day before I decide whether or not I want to give them a wash to dull them down though. Anyway, since 9th has more abstract LoS rules, setting them up like this could work as area terrain that's obstructed or something. I'm thinking of building a few area terrain bases later to make that a bit more easily distinguishable.

Terrain is always good! (A wash and/or a pass with some sponge weathering would look pretty good, though, I reckon!)

I finished up the Tainted Cohort today:

Not my favorite, mostly because each individual model going heavy into a theme (tentacles, horns, and, uh... teeth) means they don't make for a super-coherent unit, but as usual painting warmed me up to them. A 3-man terminator squad isn't all that great in regular games of 40K either, but it might just be a thorn in someone's side in combat patrol.

They look so good Dave! I predict they'll be a nighmare to kill.

Which is why I'm bringing this:

I hated this thing at many points during painting and I have some regrets about assembly choices but it's done!

These Good Dogs were a lot easier, not sure my lazy pelt technique translated well to the actual animal but it was a trivial job done easily between Exorcist steps.
