@Konrad, looking forward to seeing your eldritch monstrosities! I like the noodle head guy a lot.

I've been painting up my human team for blitz bowl at a leisurely pace - no particular hurry, and I'm doing all my teams with contrasts so they're super easy to paint up once I actually apply my butt to the chair.

There is, it turns out, a thin line between "colorful pro sports team" and "hamburger chain mascot" when it comes to color schemes. Still, I like how they look.

@Dave, You should just go all in and get them a hamburger mascot and a banner with a totally not trademarked slogan or something. Those colours would look great on the pitch though.

I build and painted up some more scratch built terrain. These pictures don't really show off all the pieces but I just wanted to line some models up coming out of the gate.

Awesome work all round everyone.

I have mainly been trying to get some stuff stuck together recently, rather than painting. I did paint up some minis a couple of weeks ago, but only just got around to taking photos the other day.

Close up of the side of the Razorback. I've added little bits of scripture to the white parts of the models to help highlight the Templar's religious zeal a bit.

These chaps have already seen battle once already, crushing my Necrons in a game of 40K 5th Edition (with a few modifications thrown in) against a fellow mental patie... er... like-minded connoisseur of wargames.

@Primarch: How the heck do you do scripture that small?!

This week I swung by the GW shop thinking about starting a small sisters army, and then I saw that single Canoness costs 5300 JPY.
I thought plastic sisters were supposed to be cheaper!!

I did end up buying a few more models for my IG army from the same kickstarter to fill in a few gaps I had (company commanders, tempestus primes, and yarrick).
I also finally invested in a better storage option than my foam containers: a plastic case with metal inserts for easy magnetization.

I don't! It's just thin black squiggles made with a marker pen.

The metal/magnet storage option seems like a good way to transport large numbers of troops.

Magnets are indeed aces for transport and storage - especially once you get into big weird-shaped minis. (Personally I find that a magnet-sheet tray and metal washers in the bases is easier in terms of "models attaching to each other" shenanigans, but it's hard to find magnet sheets that are all that strong.)

I've been working on my Orc team for Blitz Bowl:

It's been fun playing around with colors and color combinations I don't often get to use with the excuse "pro sports team," but here I've inadvertently recreated the uniform of the Clemson Tigers, famous largely for having one of American college football's ugliest uniforms. Still, as with the Human team, I dig 'em. They should be finished up this weekend, then I'll get in on some dorf and chaos action.

@prim: hmm those templars look kinda familiar. Love that squiggly scripture. It really sells the whole templar vibe. Kind of makes me want to make a few templars

Great work everyone. It seems like you're all getting a lot of mileage with those contrast paints.

I've been working on this WIP custodian, trying to get the nmm technique down before I attempt it on Guilliman. Only the left leg is done. After dabbling with non metallic metal for some months I think I'm starting to get the hang of it. A few observations have been.

1) It has a pretty steep learning curve. The first few attempts looked like absolute garbage.
2) It takes forever.
3) It's really given me a deeper appreciation of miniature painting that I never had before.

Really been a lot of fun trying new painting techniques out.

I like the idea of replicating actual team uniforms. Nicely done.

@Dave: I just figured you were going for a Halloween theme! Interesting to know it was an actual team's colors.

@jus: New technique or not, that armor looks pretty good!

Today I got started my next project: valkyrie spam! I'm planning to do a big airbrushing push tomorrow and then work on shading over the next couple of weeks. I also need to think up some more smutty names for the 4 flyers and find matching decals.

They are, allowing for the decades of inflation between releases

But speaking as someone with a complete Sisters army: don't get into Sisters if you have any money you'd like to keep. The models are gorgeous but there are currently zero ways to collect them more affordably than just straight up buying the standard boxes.

That will probably change soon when the Collector's set sprues get put into a Combat Patrol box or something, but even then the loadout and mix of those models is not optimal.

Speaking of Sisters, I finished this a couple of days ago but was too lazy to take photos until today:

I don't love Basilicanum Grey on tanks but I think my attempt to avoid it here lead me to strange places. I have one more of these to paint up for next game day and I think I'll go blue/grey instead.
