And got a unit of Continentals done to square off against those Redcoats. Did some grimy medieval cannon crew for a Saga army , too. Image Image ImageImage

@Konrad - Lovely work on those continentals, are you sure you're not a secret historical gamer?

@primrose: Iron Within! Iron without! love the hazard strips and the dinobot. It really sells the irons warriors theme.

@ Konrad: Stunning. There's just something about a uniform army. The visual cohesion is fantastico!

@Konrad, The detail on those faces is amazing. Especially that guy with the unibrow.

I got some bases for potential Gauntlet submissions done over the week. I'm probably going to add some tufts but I'm going to wait till I know how the actual models are going to fit on the bases first. In case anyone's curious the sand was painted with a base coat of Wraithbone and a simple coat Aggaros Dunes contrast paint followed by a dry brush of Ushabti Bone.

While these old-school metal figs often have hands sculpted on as an afterthought, straps and wrappings that don't line up or disappear and occasional casting issues that we don't have to face in the age of injection molded plastic, the faces are usually pretty interesting.
Here are the latest. The Iroquois were a lot of fun.

Yeah, those look really good - the face paint in particular, that's hard to pull off in such a realistic way.

After too long not really painting, I got most of the way through a few nurgle boys tonight. Not, as I looked at my list, anything I really need to get painted up for games day next month, but it's all good. Hopefully I'll wrap them up over the weekend and get on to the next batch.

I recognise that base size and I think I know what it's for. I had the same idea.

Everyone's work is looking amazing, such good painting all around!

I'm too lazy for that though so I've just been gluing:

That's a lot of dakka!

I finished up those three stinkies:
Image
Every time I paint more plague marines I push the rust effects a bit more, every time I worry I've overdone it, and every time it still looks good. It is a mystery for the ages.

For games day in February I need to paint up 4 more infantry models (a couple close combat guys, a blightspawn, and a power armored lord*), plus a rhino which is still in the mail. Doable, certainly, although my output for January was pretty low so I'll have to step up a bit.

*How is it that the only semi-generic power armored chaos lord at all is Obsidious Mallex, and there are none for death guard, even though it's in the codex? (Cue xenos players reminding me how bad Eldar have it, yes, yes.) I mean, I can kitbash one, and have done, but basically all that'll distinguish him from the rank and file is paint job and base size.
