What did you do today.
Re: What did you do today.
Felt nostalgic and old. Fed up with lockdown and being so far from my family and friends in Japan.

Finished the pile of miniatures from 2013!
Painting mainly historical with some fantasy, Tolkien and Sci-Fi.
Currently playing Bladerunner RPG and King's of War.
Japan ex pat vet.

Lockdown is no fun! <- understatement of the new century, I know...
@Prim - spoopy! Is that just some kind of straight translucent plastic, or did you put a wash on, or or or?
@Jye - nice terminators! Is that Blood Angels or Flesh Tearer red? (I need to get me a box of the S2 space marine heroes - even with no space marine army they'd be fun to paint up.)
I whacked out these two yesterday - a quick Contrast job after a few weeks of slow, careful titan painting is a great palate cleanser, and I think I'm ready to start in on my Underworlds backlog. Today's lesson: straight Snakebite Leather plus a bit of Nihilakh Oxide is just *chef's kiss* for basically no work. Also Typhus Corrosion is fun, but a little goes a long way.

(Jye, do you want me to throw some sand on the bases? I don't remember what the bases on your new DG army look like.)

Re: What did you do today.
@Dave - Those Death Guard look really good. Snakebite Leather + weathering seems like a really good way to get tarnished metal.
I got 43 minis done over the last week so I'm happy with myself I guess. It's probably a decent enough paint job for what they are and I still have plenty more to paint. I also made those bases using air dry clay and I forgot to account for how much it shrinks when it dries so it ended up a bit wonky.

Now I just need to stop playing Valheim and get some more painting done...

@Karantu - 43 is impressive work, no matter the scale. Looking forward to seeing your epic game in April(?).
@Dave - Flesh Tearers Red. I've used a ton of Blood Angels Red on things so I wanted a change.
Those Lords of Contagion are super impressive!

Not sure which technique @Grantholemeu used but the Plague Marines have an earthy base that matches their corrosion.

More Inner Circle. Painting Lazarus in my off brand colours was certainly a choice; I'm assuming he's posing as part of Tara's forces to hunt down the Fallen, even if the Dark Angels relic helm kind of gives it away.

Nice work everyone.
I finished up another batch of minis, some Ultramarines for 30K.
20 Tactical marines.

5 Heavy Support marines.

5 Tactical Support marines.

5 Seekers.

5 Locutarus Storm marines.

A Captain and a Tech-marine.

A Dreadnought and a kit-bashed Rhino.

And (an unofficial mini from the days when GW swore they would never release Primarchs) Robute Guilliman.

For a total of 43 infantry and 2 vehicles.

Re: What did you do today.
They look awesome, a proper Legion - and so many of them, absolutely cracking output.

For my own part I found these three slow going, just hard to get paint in everywhere it needed to go - and not helped by needing to reglue them to the flying stands more than once. The next batches will get glued to scatter terrain instead, these posts do not go well with Gravis.

I'm like the only person I've ever heard of who never had a problem with Inceptors and their flying bases, but it may be just because I always treated them with kid gloves.
I finished up the Dread Pageant today:

Dusty whites and still-not-quite-there NMM on the blades aside, I'm really pleased - I'm thinking I may have to start figuring out how to use them once the current league is done at Plamojuku and I can re-retire Magore's.

I'm, uh, not paying any attention at all to the league when picking teams. Certainly not planning to stick with the three warbands I've used so far

While I agree that the whites are a bit dusty, everything else is bloody good. The nmm on the weapons reads as nmm, and the blue gradations are effective, too. The models are really busy (well, the leader is, anyway) but you've used the gold trim well to keep shapes clear. The shield is a particularly nice touch, too. *tip o the hat davewards* Job's a good un.

Re: What did you do today.
@mij - The blades are an improvement over previous attempts - I'm just being hard on myself.
Trouble is all the tutorials and such are on perfectly symmetrical straight blades, so single-bladed curved weapons confound me. With the gold stuff (and gribbly stuff like the shield) I can just sort of wing it, but NMM on large flat surfaces is still something I have to work on. Practice makes perfect! I do like how Slakeslash's scimitar turned out generally, though, even if it's darker than I envisioned.
@Jye - I have to admit I'm not entirely certain how the league is being calculated, so I'll probably just show up to the next plamojuku day with the Pageant.
