That's a really clever solution to those flying bases.

@Jus - If that head is meant to be who I think it is, even the Chaos Gods might think twice.
That 3D printer seems to be pumping out some great stuff.

Re: What did you do today.
Speaking of 3D printing, I painted up some alternate carapace weapons for my warlords (thanks to jus for the gatlings and a little company called Battle Bling for the old-pattern apocalypse launchers) and nameplates for all 10 (again, Battle Bling).

And man, I need a new phone with a better camera. Identical lighting conditions on those two models.

@Jus- "Mother Superior! Sister Modesty is fighting without her pants again!" That is some serious cheesecake, and this is coming from me, a guy who spends a great deal of his hobby time sculpting mostly-nekkid, Amazon road-warriors.
This printer of yours is turning into a really cool toy. You try your hand at sculpting anything? I was playing with the free version of Z-brush, making heads and blobby aliens, just to get a feel for it. Was working on a skull, but man, there are all sorts of weird planes and angles in our cheekbones......If I ever get anything to work out , I'll have to get you to print it for me.

haha, I missed out on the 80's naked miniatures scene so I have some catching up to do. I have several more pinups that need painting. But yes cheesecakes!Konrad wrote: ↑Wed May 19, 2021 11:31 pm@Jus- "Mother Superior! Sister Modesty is fighting without her pants again!" I did have a go ay some modelling software. I tried but didn't get very far at all. It was very complicated ...even after watching youtube. SEnd me an stl file of what you come up with and I'll see what I can do.
@prim: yes, that is who you think it is. I also have a Putin head with a commisar hat.
Re: What did you do today.
Maybe someday...... a real steep learning curve. I have a student who is a pro cg- designer. I really need to get an English-for-Z-brush lesson exchange going.
But back to putty and paint. Here's what I just got off the bench.
In addition to my Gauntlet entry I got the final touches on the Digga-shamman done. I wanted to try some more intricate tattoos, but just could not do more than some rough slashes and dots. Not sure if my brush is crap, the surface I sculpted too rough, or the hands and eyes just can't hack it anymore. I dusted her up and loaded here hair up with a bunch of pigment. Perfect stuff for GoMo projects.

Watch out! Bewbs ahead! Maybe NSFW
Got another Digga in the works. I'm going to rig up her base so it looks like she is jumping down vertically off a vehicle. I like how her hair turned out, but it's the wrong hair for this model. It needs to be all ratty and dread-locky and full of beads and things. I might chop it off and try again.

And a frog-Gamorean-trooper-alien thing. The arms and hands are just kicking my butt.....

And got some paint on those noodle-headed aliens. I did them in a Blanchitsu red and black, at first but decided that looked too admech-grimdark, so switched to a yellow-ocher Blanchitsu pallete.

Re: What did you do today.
I was planning to go to a gaming event tomorrow, but the doctor thinks I have the mumps and I'll still be contagious tomorrow.
Anyway, I painted up a bunch of (magnetized) weapons in preparation for the event and based my veteran guardsmen.
Finally, I painted up this bombshell company commander (not quite as cheesecake as that sister though).

Re: What did you do today.
I guess there's nothing you can't say is within uniform regs *somewhere* in the Guard. Nice work!

HQs for the Dark Angels. With all the Inceptors I figured I'd need some buffs that could actually follow them around!
(Honestly outside a few exceptions like the bike Chaplain that it's hard to go past Firstborn HQs as their mobility and equipment options generally beat out the slightly hardier Primaris. Especially in 9th where buffing units is more important than trying to play herohammer!)

I wasn't going to paint any Nurgle models of my own but it turns out not only are the excellent (cheap, mobile) Furies not Finecast or metal or whatever, I already own 12 of them from Warcry.

@All - Great work everyone.
I haven't been in much of a painty mood recently, but I have been buimding stuff.

Re: What did you do today.
I painted up the first couple of Myari's Purifiers for Underworlds over the past few days:

Semi-unfortunately, these are by far my favorite two models of the warband, so I'm a bit less motivated to hurry up and paint the other two.
Still, hopefully I can get the whole warband in under the wire to count as a May finish for my tally.
