What did you do today.

Post by Primarch » Thu Nov 03, 2011 11:33 am

Recently I have found myself with a lot of projects that I need to get done, some with a close deadline, others with a bit more time before I need to start to panic. At the same time, my work is getting busier, with less free time to waste on playing video games and so forth.
So I have decided to try and do a little bit of hobby-ing every day if I can, whether its reading a rule book, painting a shoulder pad or gluing some sand on a base or two.

This thread is intended as a motivator for folks who want to give themselves a little extra drive to complete what they are working on. The [name of month] Painting threads will still be used for completed models, or WIP pictures. This thread is just for a couple of lines of text saying what you did today.

To kick things off, today I:
Filed the mold lines off 23 Russian soldiers and glued them to some bases.
Stripped some paint off a couple of marines.
Applied a couple of colours to some epic scale miniatures.

How about you guys?

Finished up the green on a bunch of Epic-scale termagants and hormagaunts, as well as a hive tyrant.
Went to the 100-yen shop and got some colored felt for quick-and-dirty representation of trenches and razorwire for the same game.
Feel free to call me Dave!

Read black crusade and created a character for it.

gomen - couldnt resist. :D

Actually, I find if I aim to paint/hobby every day it just leads to stress. Some days I'm just too damn tired to do anything constructive (today being a case in point. Between the 22nd October and 12th November I get 1 day off. That was today.) On those days I find it does me much more good to just do what the hell I feel like, rather than feel compelled to do hobby things.

Not actually today but a few days ago. I got a large chunk of my Uncharted Seas table done. By no means finished, it will do for a game.

Today I finally got back to working on the manuscript (need to get the rules half done this month!) and played LOTS of Dark Souls. Then I met my wife for Chinese food and came home to play more Dark Souls.

I haven't touched my minis for a couple months now. *sigh*

Well yesterday on the public holiday I went to the Opera with my wife, for the first time. It was suprisingly amazing. After that I ate hamburger with rice and daikon sauce and enjoyed watching an episode of the Sopranos series 1 before base coating my 6 a day Prussians in preparation for this months big game. Then I went to bed and had some horrific nightmares (too many Halloween events this year.)
I am painting 6 a day so I can get 4 units done plus Commander in time for the end of the month. On my second unit now so should be ok.
Forget about yesterday, don't worry about tomorrow because all that matters is today.
