Man, what a wasted opportunity. If you're going to have a 25th anniversary miniature commemorating the picture on the front of the original RT rulebook, the first rule (I'd think) is: Make the model look like the picture on the front of the original RT rulebook. Instead we get some bizarre hybrid of the rulebook picture and modern SM designs. Bleah.

I agree with TOD 100%.
This is really a half ass attempt. the 25 anevesery of RT could have given us a whole unit of ond school under fire. now that would have tempted me.

As it is the model is cool but to be honest they should have made It better.

Yup. It's not a terrible model, but neither is it good. It certainly has bugger all to do with th RT cover :(

Once again, you fail, GW...

Once again I have to go with a good solid "M'eh" on this one.

The anniversary version of "Harry the Hammer" was much cooler.

Mehmehmeh. You can tell it was a last minute, "25 years? Really? I thought R.T was like that RPG we licensed out to Fantasy Flight." I doubt there is anyone still working for GW who'd remember.
Now, this is (albeit only a 7.5) a labor of love and says it for real.

It's not a bad marine model and it certainly looks like it took the image as it's inspiration, but it does lack the semi-cartoony style of the original picture. It wouldn't look out of place amongst contemporary models, but that doesn't seem to be what people want.
On the other hand, I wish my Crimson Fists looked as good as that one. Nice paint job regardless of it's suitability

I want one. :)

The last time they sculpted that guy, they came up with # 3 here:

This new one can only be an improvement. I like how this one is a modern updating of a classic, not just a complete replica of the original artwork. It's the old guy, but in the modern style.

It's the same sort of idea as the new MINI, VW Beetle or the Ford GT. I happen to think this Marine and the GT work well, the MINI and Beetle less so.

The hobby really has a come a long way. Now we are talking like it's art. We'll have to serve white wine and cheese at the Nagoyahammer painting contest. ;)

But who will bring cheese and who will whine?
