Infamy miniatures

You've maybe already seen this new indie manufacturer, but for those who havent, if you fancy some very nicely detailed steampunk victoriana then Infamy miniatures do some verra nice stuff. The guy who runs it (James, aka Lono) is on CMoN a lot and seems to be a very decent chap. He's a commision painter by trade, but has been documenting his progress for a while and seems to be making a go of it. He's obviously not daft when it comes to the running-a-mini-boutique, either, as his sculpts are not done by him - he's commisioned some bloody good sculptors and painters to do it for him. Same as studio mcvey do, actually. Anyway, here's his website:

I'm not trying to be difficult here, but why would you post but not comment? If you like them, then you are free to say so. If you don't like em, then you are equally free to say so. Or, If the thread doesnt interest you then by all means feel free to say nothing. It's not like anybody's feelings are going to be hurt. You're perfectly entitled to like/dislike something as you see fit. In fact, that was one of the reasons I made the post - I'm curious about people's opinions. Saying "no comment" just leaves everybody guessing as to what you're feelings may be, which is only going to lead to misunderstanding all round.

I do not want to say negative thing about them after all someone went to a lot of work sculpting them. There is really so much I do not like about the sculps that no comment means... I would rather not go into how much I diss like something.

They're well sculpted, and I like the girl with the molotov coctail, but I'm not keen on the background for Holmes; "here's Sherlock Holmes - but in my world he's eeeevil!" Why? Seems a bit of a pointless change to make your setting "cool" and "grimdark". Also, I don't think overcoats get ruler-straight scratches like that.

Watson is ... interesting, if a rather cliched mad doctor theme, but I was never a fan of the "bumbling chubby sidekick" portrayal of the character.

Like Badruck, I have some issue with the sculpt (does the girl have a hairlip?), but it particularly bugs me when people mess with the awesomeness of the original Sherlock Holmes.

*shrug* well, fair do's if you don't like people messing with The Holmes. Personally, while I'm generally not a fan of steampunk in particular, I think the sculpts are very well done. The paint jobs are also very good, altho I see your point about the straight scratches. A bit more tearing might have been better. As for the eeeeevil holmes, yeah, not the most original, but at least better than a straight up "this is not-holmes" mini. To each their own.

on which note: what don't you like about the sculpts, badruck? Is it something aesthetic or technical? To me, regardless of how I feel about steampunk, they look very appropriate to the genre, and seem technically excellent. I appreciate you don't want to say negative things, but if nobody says negative things about art then art never gets better. Constructive criticism (done properly) is almost always negative - praise rarely teaches you anything. This is not to say that most negative comments are constructive criticism, but most constructive criticism is negative comments.
