Interesting kickstarters

Post by me_in_japan » Wed Dec 05, 2012 4:07 am

What do y'all make of this? I've seen some of the minis before, and was tempted then, too. I like the kinda Labyrinth/rackham vibe he has going on.

3 weeks or so to go. Can I resist that long?

Didn't someone just tell me not to get involved in a kickstarter project?

Hypocrisy?

Didn't say you shouldn't kickstarter. I said you shouldn't spend 200bucks on KD:M. Huge buy-ins on games folks probly won't play with you is not a good idea, but buying a couple of nice, unique minis for their own sake, at 25-30 bucks is another ball game entirely. It's a matter of personal taste, of course.

I was asking here more about folks' opinions of the line of minis, seeing as how it isn't actually a game yet (and may never be.)

Ps - easy on the hypocrisy accusations, chief. I do my best to stay consistent. If you think I have contradicted myself by all means point it out, but I'd appreciate it if you didn't flog me with it... :?

No offence intended M_i_J, just a bit of light hearted fun.

The minis ain't my thing, but I can see how they would appeal to some folks. If you want them, by all means go right ahead. I'm sure they will give you hours of painting pleasure.

But... to return the advice, do you really need more minis to put into your 'to paint' pile, especially when you have Battle for Alabaster and your portion of the minis from Reaper coming in the not too distant future? Not saying you shouldn't mind, just enquiring is all.

I start a perfectly nice Kickstarter thread for all the interesting stuff we might happen to come across, and you two spazzos start two separate ones and then end up convincing each other not to buy anything !!!

Should I just take the hint? Is there something wrong with my thread?

I'm going to go and cry myself to sleep o
n my soft yet ever so manly pillow.

I couldn't find the other post either. Check this one out guys:

I've pledged $150. It's at nearly 700% funded all ready and still has 25 days to go.

I got a mail about that (I backed another CMoN KS). Tbh, altho I'm sure it's a fun game, rivet wars doesn't excite me. The cartoon style just ain't my thing. Besides, too many KSs is bad for your wallet. That, and I'm starting to get very skeptical of CMoN KSs. The last one, Kingdom Death, went from a $150 buy-in to a $600 to get what you need to play the full game over the course of the campaign. Smacks of money-grabbing a bit. That, and to get the one mini I liked woulda cost 70 dollars. I'm swearing off kickstarters for the time being. Still, to each their own :) just remember to resist buying into the stretch goals :D

The Spevna is very tempted by this. Oh, he most certainly is.
