An amusing GW anecdote
An amusing GW anecdote
Hi everyone, long time no post. I'm having a big break from gaming at the moment while I sort my real life out but just wanted to share this update I got from an old friend I haven't seen for years. Thought it was funny.
He's been living in LA and had his own restaurant out there, he's sold up and moved back to Devon and started another one here that's going well. But, not so long ago this happened,
yeah in january i just went into the gw in barney to get all nostalgic and the guy got me painting a model and next thing you know i'm walking out with £150 worth of stuff
i play dark angels and hugo plays tau
but infinty is my main game
Brilliant!

Re: An amusing GW anecdote
Mine's my recent trip to Glasgow on business. Naturally, I went to the GW store to get some Tyranid Warriors, because <<grumble grumble it's not important to this story>>.
I plop the box down on the counter.
Young dude in red shirt: "So what got you interested in Tyranids, then?"
Me: "Actually, I'm putting together an Advanced Space Crusade set."
He, cheerfully: "I have no idea what that is."
(There was an older staffer on hand who did know the game, and saved him some face with chatter about how cool the game was.)

TOD, brilliant! Love the way the young guy was a red shirt.
Vet sales staff: Stand aside son, I'll handle this it's not been covered in the training plan.

Oh the shame! That the GW in my hometown should be the one with the staffer that doesn't know his history.
current (2019) hobby interests
eh, y'know. Stuff, and things
Wow. And then Corona happened. Just....crickets, all the way through to 2023...

I can't bring myself to hold it against him - it was a not-particularly-popular game that came out more than 20 years ago, after all.me_in_japan wrote:Oh the shame! That the GW in my hometown should be the one with the staffer that doesn't know his history.
