So as I sit here at 2am in Texas with jet lag, I was thinking amount NH and if it would be possible to 'theme' all of the various games around a single event.

Maybe it wouldn't work, but I was thinking something like the arrival of Hive Fleet Apocalyse - the 40K Galaxy learns that the earlier hive fleets were no more than the tips of the claws of the immense Tyranid Galaxy-devouring main force.

As the shadow on the warp proceeds the invasion, the Eldar webway begins to collapse, forcing the Eldar to flight and flee across realspace before the invaders. Mork and Gork send their followers on a rampage, trying to spread ork-kind as far as possible to better their chances of survival. The Chaos gods recognize even the Eye of Terror will offer scant protection against such the great devour ears and send their disciples charging out in a final orgy of blood and death before the end. Like the Eldar, the Tau seek to break out before the invaders and flee elsewhere, while the Imperium is left grimly battling threats within and without, stubbornly refusing to give an inch in their delusional belief that the Emperor will save them.

I know that only a couple of people have Tyranid armies, but the idea isn't to make every game 'vs tyranids', but to have a theme that links everything on the day together.
Space Hulk or Space Crusade could be obvious representations of immediate actions against the invaders. 40k or Epic could be the clashing of forces either fleeing the invasion or fighting the invaders. Gorkamorka - OK I'm not sure how that'd fit...maybe that's just life as normal as they have no idea the galaxy is on the very of being eaten...

It's just a thought from a jet lagged brain - it may not work at all or someone may think of something better (or you may all hate the idea and no theme is needed!).

Cheers,

YS.

Due to time constraints and the need to rebase/rebuild a fair amount of my 40K terrain, I'm afraid I will be unable to run a game of Space Crusade as I had originally planned. Instead I will be putting on a game of In The Emperor's Name, a small (unofficial) skirmish game set in the 40K universe.

Hive Fleet Hecatoncheires, Kastavan IV Ash Wastes Incursion, Dominatrix “Geryon” Psychic Probe Report
Eyes Only: Colonel Vrask, Imperial Guard 307th Kastavan Headhunters

**begin report**
**classification code Zeta-Three-Eight-Lambda-Five**
**the psychic probe on which following report is based cost the lives of 6 sanctioned psykers and the sanity of 7 more – may their sacrifice not be in vain**

-the hive must move from the <infection zones> in the <sourbitter dead lands> *note: tactical cogitator analysis gives a 96.9% likelihood that this refers to the Tyranid landing zones in the Ash Wastes south of Vorgan’s Reach* into the population centers of the <other flesh> to replenish losses incurred in the initial <infection>
-weakness in the <antibody wall> is detected *note: tactical cogitator analysis gives an 86.7% likelihood that this refers to the lightly-defended XVII sector on the outskirts of Vorgan’s Reach*
-create a gap for following forces of the <same flesh> to exploit
-beware an <envelopment> by nearby <antibodies> alerted to the <infection>
-capture the <stone cyst> for the creation of <spawning pools> *note: tactical cogitator analysis gives a 63.8% likelihood that this refers to the administratum offices of Vorgan’s Reach Sector XVII*

**end report**

Colonel, it falls to you to defend Sector XVII on the outskirts of Vorgan’s Reach, the largest population center on the edge of the ash wastes of Kastavan IV, from the advances of Hive Fleet Hecatoncheires. Unfortunately, analysis suggests that the Xenos scouts have determined that this sector is relatively lightly-defended, and are focusing their attack on your position. Analysis of their attack suggests that they are trying to break through the line here and establish a gap. Do not let them succeed! Reinforcements will arrive in force soon – the 179th Armored Battalion is moving to deploy on your left flank, and the 83rd Air Cavalry on your right. Air support is also being mobilized, but will need some time to arm and fuel before launch. Hold out with your garrison until support arrives, and do everything you can to rob the Tyranid assault of its forward momentum. For Kastavan! For the Emperor!

Warning! Lictors have been reported in this sector. Standard Overwatch covering fire protocols are highly recommended until the foul creatures have shown themselves.

Just the name "Hecatoncheires" is Epic. Try saying that 5 times fast.

40K - The Main Event
Games will be played at the 1000 point level, though players should also prepare a 500 point list. Depending on attendance and other considerations (see below), players may need to team up.
-Army Building
1000 points or 500 points.
Players MUST use the most up to date codex/entry for their models. (Books printed after April 1st 2017 may be ignored).
Players MAY use any appropriate GW Codex or Imperial Armour books.
Players MUST take 1 detachment OR formation.
Players MAY take a second detachment OR a formation.
Players may NOT take super detachments (A detachment made of formations) e.g. Necron Decurion, Marine Gladius. I doubt you could fit one in at 1000 points anyway.
If in doubt, ask.
You will use the same army all day.
Please remember, this is not a tournament, it's a chance to meet friends and have fun. Bringing an all-powerful, crush-your-opponent, table-them-on-turn-1 style army is strictly frowned upon. Bring an army you would be happy to see across the table from you.
-Teams
If you team up with another player, you will count as Allies of Convenience, regardless of the Allies charts.
You will use your own Warlord traits.
The most expensive Warlord counts for Slay the Warlord bonuses. (Roll a die if tied).
Objectives scored count for both players.
Final scores will be the same for both players.
-Missions
These will be announced later once I have had time to go over them.
-Time limit
Games will run for 2 hours and 30 minutes. An extra 15 minutes is available to finish off Player 2's turn if necessary.
The Missions for 40K are as follows.
Mission 1
Deployment: Dawn of War
Mission: Contact Lost (Maelstrom Mission)
<Mission Briefing>
We have been unable to make contact with our scouts on the southern plateau. No hostile forces have been reported in this area so far, but it is quite possible that they are trying to flank our positions by infiltrating an assault group through our defensive positions.
You are to lead an aggressive reconnaissance sweep through the area, eliminate any enemy troops you encounter and determine the fate of our forward outposts.

Mission 2
Deployment: Hammer and Anvil
Mission: Crusade (Eternal War Mission)
<Mission Briefing>
Our initial assaults on the enemy front lines have made some significant gains. We have been able to establish a bridgehead deep within their lines. Intelligence reports indicate that a significant counter attack is being prepared. Should this succeed, our assault is in danger of stalling and being cut off.
You and your troops are to advance out from the bridgehead and keep the pressure on the enemy forces to prevent them from launching their counter attack.

Mission 3
Deployment: Vanguard Strike
Mission: Cleanse and Control (Maelstrom Mission)
<Mission Briefing>
Final victory is within our grasp. The enemy are falling back to their final positions and preparing for a last stand. If we can exterminate these last few holdouts, there will be nothing preventing us from rolling up the rest of their lines and crushing any remaining resistance.
You have been tasked with leading the final assault. Break the enemy and your name will go down in history. Failure is not an option.

Maelstrom Missions use the randomised objectives found in the main rulebook and in some of the Codex/Supplement books. If your army is built from more than one book, you must select which set of optional Maelstrom Objectives to use. You will use the same set of objectives all day.
