Forget about yesterday, don't worry about tomorrow because all that matters is today.

Sure, if it was a national holiday and most of the players weren't working.

Come to think of it, one of the big national events in New Zealand is held every Easter. The one time I attended it was held in the Hall of a Catholic High school.

While I do think the name might not have been the best, I think the lingering "Isn't it just for Gaijin?" thing and the fact that O-Bon and New Year's are times to head back to your hometown and hang with the family (moreso than GW) might be the real reasons we have so few Japanese players signed up.

It certainly is a reason I have heard... Most of the Japanese do go home for some reason... I have not been home in over 5 years and to be honest I really do not see my self going back any time soon..

I think the biggest deal is that people do family stuff in Obon. When I asked my students if they would go to a summer BBQ event over the Obon period, most of them said the weekend before or after would be better.

I don't think it's a sensitivity thing so much, more of a timing thing.

Vis-a-vis the Admiral going home, you assume that A) Homeland Security would even let you back in and B) Your family haven't moved in the mean time without telling you (again). :D
