NH 17 - Painting Contest - Discussion

Post by Mike the Pike » Fri Feb 10, 2017 12:01 pm

I opened this thread for all your ideas, suggestions, advice, vitriol, rants, raves, whingeing and smack talk regarding this year's event. By the way, nothing is written in stone as to the rules and categories etc yet, I am open to genuine suggestions (maybe  )

Have at it folks!

Boo! It's rigged!

Seriously though, I'd like to thank Pikey for organizing this. Much appreciated.

I'd like to encourage everyone to enter, even if painting is not usually your thing. I've entered every time and lost every time*, but I'm going to keep trying. I think it is a great reason to try to improve your painting skills and challenge yourself. We have a lot of really good painters locally, but that doesn't mean other people should feel ashamed of their own efforts. Step up your game and enter a model or two.

*I came second in one category one time, mainly because only one other person entered.

@Pikey - How about a Best Conversion category? The model must be noticeably converted from the original in some way or a full scratch build. (Just a head swap doesn't count).

A painting contest is always a good thing. Many thanks to Pikey for organising, and Prim for allowing. Also, a conversion category is a good idea (even though Konrad will win... ) :P

Someone(coughーYSーcough) didn't read the main post
It's open to all game systems and manufacturers. Entering an 1/12 Tamiya R/C Tiger as a Bolt Action model might not be overly appreciated though :D

Since we are sort of going with sort of an "Oldhammer" theme this Naghammer, how 'bout a Best Classic Figure Challenge? Pre-2000 lead only?
...and now his Head was full of nothing but Inchantments, Quarrels, Battles, Challenges, Wounds, Complaints, Amours, and abundance of Stuff and Impossibilities.....

Yes! Go in and put the bling on a character, rig up a skull strewn fluer-de-llis base and da-dah! You win!

BUMP!
Sorry for taking my sweet ****ing time with this nn(_ _)nn

There will be two 'new' categories this yearnas suggested by you 'orrible lot...

Best Conversion ー Can anyone challenge Naghammer's version of a mad scientest、Konrad?

Best Old 'Un ー must be pre 2000 and metal. Single figure or mounted figure. Preferably in it's orivinal state and not overly converted.

What say you savages?
I'll leave this here for a couple of days then cast the final decisions in stone.

Once again、 humblest apologies for my tardiness.
