Normandy '44 - The Missions

Post by Primarch » Sun Aug 13, 2017 5:44 am

After spending 1,000,000+ hours in MS Paint, I have produced some rough layouts for the Normandy 44' games. Please note that these do not include things such as hills, woods, fences, bocage and hedges. The icons for buildings and the like are not to scale and the layouts for roads (grey), rail (black) and river (blue) are just general guidelines. I'd like to fill the tables up with as much terrain as we can muster. These maps are just to give a general overview of where the key things should go. Each map consists of 2x 4'x6' tables.

The US Sector

Americans
The Americans have 3 Divisions which may deploy up to 12" forward from their table edges. Each division has its own reserve entry point. All of your reserve units and any scenario assets you choose will enter from your reserve point.
US Primary Objective - Push through the German lines and secure the Road/Rail junction.
US Secondary Objective - Secure the port of Cherbourg.
US Tertiary Objective - Cut the German's access to the Cotentin Peninsula, preventing them from reinforcing Cherbourg.

Germans
The Germans have 3 Divisions which must deploy at least 18" away from the US deployment zones. The 1st Division will deploy around Carentan, the 2nd around Pikey's Farm and the 3rd blocking access to the port at Cherbourg. Commanders should avoid their commands overlapping other Divisions zones to avoid confusion, but are otherwise allowed to deploy their troops at their own discretion. Due to a lack of personnel, no initial deployments may be made in the rear areas (The back 24" of the table containing the station).
Each division has its own reserve entry point. All of your reserve units and any scenario assets you choose will enter from your reserve point.
German Primary Objective - Push the Americans back to their initial jump off points.
German Secondary Objective - Maintain the road link between 2nd and 3rd Divisions.
German Tertiary Objective - Ensure Carentan Station remains in German hands.

The British Sector

British
The British have 3 Divisions which will deploy in a staggered line down their table edge. Each Division has a deployment area of about 36" wide and an average of 12" deep. Each division has its own reserve entry point. All of your reserve units and any scenario assets you choose will enter from your reserve point.
British Primary Objective - Open the road on the far side of Caen, allowing allied forces to break out from the coast.
British Secondary Objective - German officers have established an HQ at Le Chateau De Prim. Capture it.
British Tertiary Objective - Cut the road leading into Caen to prevent German reinforcements.

Germans
he Germans have 3 Divisions which must deploy at least 15" away from the closest point of the British deployment zones. 1st Division will man the defences on the East side of Caen. 2nd Division is responsible for the defence of Caen itself. 3rd Division will man the defences on the West side of Caen. Due to a lack of personnel, no initial deployments may be made in the rear areas (Within 18" of the rear table edge).
German Primary Objective - Push the British back to their initial jump off points.
German Secondary Objective - Maintain control of the vital crossroads at Caen.
German Tertiary Objective - Push troops forward to set up a defensive position along the banks of the river.
