500 point team games.
Missions will be straight out of the book as these games are intended for players who haven't played a lot of games and don't need to have a tonne of extra rules given to them.
1 - Dawn of War, Sieze Ground
2 - Pitched Battle, Annihilation
3 - Spearhead, Capture and Control
1500 point tournament games.
These missions are all from my own fevered imagination with some added twists as most players should be veterans and able to deal with the unexpected.
1 - Secret
2 - Confidential
3 - Very hush hush (anyone seeing a pattern here).

Game 4 - I have something special planned for this as a way to wrap up the day, but if players want they are welcome to prepare a list around the following.
300 points
1+ Troops, 0-1 of Fast Attack, Heavy Support OR Elites. (ie only 1 unit from the 3 sections).
No vehicles with an armour value of more than 12 on the rear. (no Land Raiders or Monoliths).
Max 1 monstrous creature.
Max 1 ordnance weapon.
Max 1 Ap1 weapon.

For the 500 points section, you said

"Players may use different units in every game and may even field different armies if they wish to."

Can we decide which units and armies to use just before each game, or do we need to bring a printed list?

Printed lists would be better if you can. It prevents people from looking at their opponent's army and then selecting the best units to deal with it and it saves time.
If people need stuff printing, please email it to me as a .doc, .txt or .pdf file and I will print it for you.

I was guessing that it would be like Adeptacon... they had the missions up a few weeks in advance... it helps people make and educated guess as to what they should bring.. some lists will useless in some missions... I am not to worried about it... last year the missions made a big deal about who won..if you had a list that fit the mission by chance you came out on top... if you had a list that did not fit the mission it was a bit of a fight to even come in close.

@Badruck : Your biggest loss was due to your opponent having no trouble killing 3 land raiders in one turn. If your opponent hadn't had a tonne of obliterators and instead had opted for lots of low S, high volume of fire guns it would have been totally different. That was all down to your list vs his list.
@All : As always, gimmicky lists (3 Land Raiders for example) will sometimes do well and sometimes wont. Balanced lists have an equal chance at all the missions. Basically make sure you have scoring units and a mix between unit types and the missions shouldnt make that much difference. Sometimes when you bring cheese to the game your opponent just makes himself a sandwich!

Hee, hee, hee...remember Badruck, you were contemplating three Landraiders when you played me too! I think you used the "Triple Cheese LR Combo" in your very next match...but ran into six Obliterators (and we all know how those guys like to eat sandwiches)!

Well, I guess with huge hints as to what the missions will be ("secret", etc.), I can only make a balanced, take-all-comers list for my Tau.
