Re: Mini Scales
Okay, let's say that one stand of infantry in FOW is roughly equivalent to one 28mm model. If I buy a ten stand, metal-pewter blister from FOW, I usually get it for $21 or so. A package of ten plastic space $37.25. So it seems that GW is just more expensive. (Granted the quality of the casts tends to higher then FOW.Primarch wrote:Well on material costs alone, a 28mm scale model is twice as tall, twice as wide and twice as deep as a 15mm scale figure (give or take), so that gives a volume 8x that of your 15mil scale. So yeah, its going to be way more expensive even if all the other costs are the same.job wrote: While GW maybe a poor comparison, it seems most 28mm games cost a bit more then the 15mm scale ranges. (Just my impression.)
Also, that is from a "hobbying" stand-point. If I was just a gaming enthusiast, then the FOW provides the equivalent unit (for points and army selection) at a much cheaper price. Overall, collecting an equivalent sized force (in number of options/ size of the game) in FOW is almost half the price of collecting GW stuff.

Re: Mini Scales
I'm not arguing against you. I totally agree, 15mm IS cheaper. 28mm models need more materials, bigger moulds, bigger packaging, and in GW's case, most of the plastics come with optional extras and variant parts, which is something FoW dont do. (can you imagine trying to switch out weapons on those models?)job wrote:Okay, let's say that one stand of infantry in FOW is roughly equivalent to one 28mm model. The smaller the scale, the cheaper it gets basically.

Yes, and No. Sure weapons can't be swapped out, but one nice thing about FOW is almost everything is produced for the game and almost all options are included in a blister. I'm right now trying to figure if I can get hold of a Chaos meltagun in a Chaos tactical squad, nevertheless if I can get two.I'm not arguing against you.
