So I've been told- I guess God is upset that he went to the trouble of making all these animals for me and now I'm not using them.

Well, I'm sure my other sins such as playing Donkey Kong or going trick-or-treating have doomed me anyway :(

Woo hoo Mormons did not make the list this year. :ugeek:
Eph 6-12 seems to be more about combating corporateocracy than about comic books.
Deut. 18: 9-12 makes a stronger case. But it is the old testament so if any one has sat down and read it then I am sure they would have there doubts about how well it applies to our daily lives.

Oh man I want to make me one of those lists. The list of do nots from a grumpy 30 something. :D

List making though, it's a slippery slope to Munich. ;)

Back in the UK my mates wife banned us from playing Call of Cthulhu because their local vicar was against it. I guess the Bible says Thou shall have nothing graven in thine own image so I guess I can kind of see why they would be against it. Back in the day though people rarely used minis for d and d, that was later on.
I read in Knights of the Dinner Table that back in the early 80's one poor DM was driven out of town for corrupting the youth with D and D. The church and PTA asked him to leave after they believed he had possessed their kids somehow. He wrote in saying it had taken him 20 years away from the hobby to realise he could pick it up again and not feel bad about it. Poor chap.

Free thinking people who are comfortable with their faith have nothing to fear from other faiths or life styles. It is only the people with weak faith who pretend to brake the faith of others.

Amen bruddah!

@Ashmie
Your Cthulu story got me to thinking. I remember a couple gaming buddies who had certain limits/rationalizations when it came to the hobby.
One buddy would not play, collect or allow on his table at home, any Chaos figs. Those red, horned demons on the Lost and the Damned cover were too "Satanic". Alien monstrosities, mutants, pirates, fascist Space Marines were all okay though, as they were not "demons".
I had another buddy who would not field wizards in his Empire Army. Apparently he made a promise to his church youth pastor that he would not go as far as to actually use sorcerers and things when he played these games, sort of as a compromise, I guess. As a man of his word, he kept his promise, even years later.
These decisions make no logical sense. Religion makes no logical sense. But these were a couple of good guys. I liked and respected them and their religion was a part of what made them likable and respectable.
Oh, one more sort of amusing anecdote. At the old FLGS, we had a group of kids from the college youth ministry group in and they were looking at Battletech (waaaay back in the day), but balked because, it sure looked cool, but you know the game is about war and killing people. (Funny how that never seems to be an issue, compared with dadaDAAAH Satanic conspiracies!!) My boss just said, "Well, it would be easy enough to just say they are big, empty robots." Ethical crisis averted, sale made.
...and now his Head was full of nothing but Inchantments, Quarrels, Battles, Challenges, Wounds, Complaints, Amours, and abundance of Stuff and Impossibilities.....

@Admiral. Word up. I'm with you on that one. Also when people are denied a faith by a regime or an oppresser or living in hard times they very quickly want to recover one.

Sorry another anecdote coming but this is a good one.
Does anyone remember when Iron Maiden released A Real Live One and Fear of the Dark back in '92/93? They had a promotional televised gig late at night on Channel 4. It featured a magician in the stage show.
My mate Tom, taped some Home economics heath coursework on to a video over the recording of it by accident and handed it in for marking to Mrs Slocombe as his project. He got a serious bollocking off Miss the next day as she scolded him about what she found at the end of the video after his project coursework.
We all thought it was probably Basic Instinct or something and Miss got upset as she was a devout born again Church of England lady.
Worse than Sharron stones boobs I'm afriad. We checked the tape after Tom's guitar song about how to clean your teeth ended and the finale of the Maiden show fizzled over the screen. A staged illusion where mascot Eddie lifts up Bruce puts him on a spike and spins him through his stomach, impailing him. All stagecraft of course but not very nice to look at for the Home Economics department it turns out. Silly. :)
