The Movie Thread
Re: The Movie Thread
Rogue One this evening. In a theatre that still has 200 seats available! Can't wait.

Mrs MiJ and I watched Silver Linings Playbook this evening. Honestly, I enjoyed it, which surprised me a bit as it's far from the kind of flick I'd usually watch. It's a drama, stuff happens, people get emotional about things, but it's very well acted and written, and the story kicks along nicely. Great cast, too. JLaw is, as always, extremely good. Good recommendation, Ash-san.

Glad you liked it mate. I got a lot from that film and thought the acting was great from De Niro, the main guy and that girl from Hunger Games.
That film helped me get back on my feet after my breakup.

Re: The Movie Thread
I went to see Dr. Strange this evening. It's pretty standard fare by Marvel er... standards. If you like their style then you'll probably like Dr. Strange, if not, you won't.
Top quality acting from some great actors and a decently paced origin story, makes for a good movie. Of course there is the expected tie-in to the next movie at the end. (Actually there were two tie-ins, one for the Dr. Strange sequel and one for the next Marvel Universe movie).
My one criticism is that it suffers from the same unwatchable blurs of CG during the fight scenes that Transformers and other CG heavy flicks do. At times it's near impossible to tell who is doing what to whom, which is a shame as it detracts from the movie a little too much.

I went to see doc strange last week and largely agree with Prim. Good acting, fun movie. Very pretty, but was a tad eyeball watering at times. It's one of the few movies I've seen that I think would honestly benefit from being seen in 3D (I saw the standar version.) it'd probably help the eye distinguish what's what in the more trippy scenes. Still - worth a watch, for sure.
