Re: Best and Worst Comic to Movie Thread
Just going by the films, my best are:
Spiderman 1 and 2, Superman 1 and 2 (from the 70's and 80's)
I also liked Ghost World, Watchmen, Ironman 1 and X-men 2.
My worst (that I've seen) are:
The Hulk
Ghost Rider
Wolverine
Batman and Robin
I also find the new Batman movies to be pretty boring, except for the Joker. The only Batman movie I've really liked is Mask of the Phantasm, cause it looked cool.

Best: Judge Dredd. Except for the helmet. I wish he just never put it on. And the whole futuristic sci-fi thing was kind of lame. It would be better if it was set in the jungles of Vietnam and Sylvester Stallone was like some soldier that just ran around killing people. Then the movie would be #1 of all time, not just comic book movies.
Worst: Daredevil/Catwoman/anything with Matthew Broderick or the Ghost Rider dude with the beez.

Ghost Rider makes my "worst of" list for sure. Still not as bad as TLoEG, though.

I think that IF they made TLoEG faithful to the comic book, maybe they wouldnt have been very succesful and it would have been edited something rotten by the film board or rated 18 at the least.me_in_japan wrote:Ghost Rider makes my "worst of" list for sure. Still not as bad as TLoEG, though.
Can you really see the toy range selling well?
The Invisible Man and Mr. Hyde, Now with real buggering action!
Ignoring the comics (which weren't that faithful to the original character anyway), the movie wasn't bad. As an adaptation of the comics, I think it was the best they could do given that they aimed it at a PG audience. But yeah, the comics are far far better.

Re: Best and Worst Comic to Movie Thread
true, that. Not really something I particularly want to see on film either, tbh. (especially given the invisible man's invisible nature...)
anyway...
moving on, at something of a tangent - book to movie adaptations. I just finished ep7 of A Game Of Thrones, and lawdy lawd is it good. I would never have thought they could have stuck so closely to the original and still made it a viable TV show. Fantastic acting, writing, and set design. Tyrion is especially good. Every time I see him, Peter Dinklage impresses me more. Absolutely spot on as Tyrion. the scene where he "confesses his crimes" is TV gold, and no mistake.
So - best TV show/movie from a book? what say you? LotR is an obvious candidate. Others might include Silence of the Lambs (arguably far better as a movie) or the Harry Potter movies. Bad Uns would be The Vampire Lestat/Queen of the Damned or maybe I Am Legend, which although I have not seen it, I have reliable reports that it misses the point of the book completely and changes the ending. For those who have read the book, this is clearly a dumb decision, no?

The Chronicles of Narnia. - Now that I've seen the movies I will forever be reading Aslan's lines in Liam Neeson's voice.
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. - Good book, decent enough movie (either version), but as I was much younger when I watched the first one I'd say that was creepier.
American Psycho - I haven't read the book, but the movie - being in Christian Bale's pre-growl era - was aces so maybe I should.
Needful Things. - Not 100% faithful to the book, but a good movie anyway.
Bad
I haven't read Harry Potter, but if the books are as badly plotted as the films I think I'll pass. (I know I am probably in the minority here, but seriously, Voldemort & Co wouldn't be out of place in a Scooby Doo story).
I Robot. - Great set of short stories bastardized into a Will Smith action flick.
Best Theme Park Attraction to Movie Adaptation
Pirates of the Caribbean
