Best and Worst Comic to Movie Thread

Following on from a rather rambling thread elsewhere on this here forum, I pose the question:

What is the best and what is the worst comic to movie adaptation ever made?

The Worst: Judge Dredd. Sly had the jaw but his acting was awful. He is no great thespian at the best of times but here he was just going through the motions. Then there was the annoying comic relief sidekick played by Rob Schneider. Oh yeah, he took his helmet off after about five minutes. WTF? Even in the cursed Earth series when he takes the long walk and has his helmet off for the entire series his face is never actually shown :x :x :x Hopefully the get it right the second time around.

The Best: That's a toughie. Maybe the first X-men, although I have never really read the comics. The first 'Hellboy' was quite cool, although once again I haven't read the comics.

BTW: I really hope they never do 'Slaine'. If they did it right it would be magnificent but there are just so many things they could screw up.

I think it is just a fan made trailer. Quite fun I thought.

This is what i think. I am writing this list as a comic fan first, movie fan second.
Good comic movies

SpiderMan 1
HellBoy (both)
Batman (Christian Bale versions, both)
Iron Man 1
Blade
X-Men 1 & 2
Watchmen
Men in Black
The Crow
Kick Ass
The Losers
Scott Pilgrim VS The World
V for Vendetta

Bad comic movies

Batman
Batman Returns
Batman Forever
Batman and Robin
Superman Returns
Fantastic Four 1 & 2
X Men 3
DareDevil
Men in Black 2
The Spirit
TMNT
Wanted

My favourite - HellBoy or SpiderMan
Least favourite - Any of the Batman movies pre 2000

Hmmm, I quite liked Michael Keaton as Batman. Kilmer and Clooney sucked though.
I liked Bale in the 1st movie, but in the second one he didn't act so much as growl.

The FF movies weren't bad for what they were, but Daredevil belongs in a seperate category along with Catwoman for all time worst comic-movie adaptations.

The Punisher (Dolph Lungdren version) is terrible
The Punisher (Thomas Jane version) is watchable but lacks the humour that the comic story arc it is based on had.
The Punisher (Ray Stevenson version) is good, especially if you like lots of people getting shot. The acting isn't the greatest, but it fits in more with the recent comics.

I'm looking forward to Thor, Captain America, Green Lantern and most of all Deadpool.

Worst comic movie:

League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen. This film boggled my mind with its sheer disregard for everything in the comic from which it took its name.

Best comic movie? what Spev wrote, plus 300, minus Kick Ass, The Losers and Scott Pilgrim VS The World cos I havent seen em so cant comment.

Absolute worst movie:
Super Mario Brothers. Betcha all of you forgot about that little gem.
Also, having watched it, I will say the Bollywood version of Spider-Man and Superman both were terrible, terrible jokes.

Best movie:
Easily, Christopher Nolan's Batman series, particularly Dark Knight.

In the cold light of day I might actually have to go with '300' crowd. It's very simplistic but visually it's fantastic. It has some cool lines and great action scenes. There is no comic relief sidekick. It's pretty faithful to the comic. What more could a geek ask for?

Seriously, follow Prim's link to the Batman spoof . The growling is one of many reasons I really didn't like that movie.
