Anybody else noticed that the freakin' internet has shut down?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wiki
http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Skyrim
http://www.coolminiornot.com/
etc, etc.
(note: the above links will only make sense for the next 5 hours or so...)
Tbh, I can't help but applaud them. Yes, it's a pain in the arse, yes, I cant do owt about it cos Im not american, and yes, I really would like to know which houses are for sale in skyrim and now have to wait till tomorrow to wiki it, but heck, I think the internet is the greatest thing since somebody thought "hey, these little lines and dots could be used to make words".
any americans out there, could you send your local senator type an email from me? something along the lines of "get yer greedy hands off my internet" would be nice.
thanks

Its not like most of the pirate sites are even in the US.
Silly senators. Dont they know that the internet is just a bunch of tubes?
You have to listen to ALL of this:

This is what the people in charge actually think. Fascinating really.

I like the part where they criticize China and Iran for censoring the Internet out of one side of their mouth while introducing two bills to censor the Internet at the same time. Americans need regime change.

From what I understand it is the sites outside of the us that are the reason for this prospective law.
But it will just hurt honest sites that do not filter the content posted by users. I give both of these bills a thumbs down.

Tell that to your government. (that sounds snarky, but I dont mean it as such. Seriously, the best thing you can do is send that exact message to your government representative. If I was an American, Id be sending a few emails their way. Still, can't be long before the uk follows suit, so I guess I'll have the chance soon enough...

Not if the current Scottish Government gets its way, but that is another issue.
Anyway, the people who this is going to hurt will be the people who dont use the internet for piracy. The tech savvy pirates will find a way round it. The casual users will run into all sorts of problems.

Quite an interesting wee "debate" going on here between Chern Ann (site owner of CMoN and actual lawyer) and some dude who I guess runs a mini company.

Incidentally, I have totally already saved Milosh's post for future use on this forum. Bloody priceless, so it was.

You mean this old meme?
Just in case that isn't enough, you may also want to save this one as well.
