Current exchange rate between yen and pounds:
130 yen = 1 pound
Games Workshop exchange rate:
250 yen = 1 pound
They dont need to raise prices, the economy is doing it for them.

I really can't see the benefits of buying anything bog standard from GW anymore. Sure you might want some Direct Sale stuff or Ltd edition stuff but otherwise, what's the point?

How much of a price rise would it take to get you guys to stop buying GW stuff? It may be on principle or cost, but how much is too much for you lot?

Astoundingly, I'm with Mitch on this one. Nobody else makes Eldar. Nobody else makes anything even vaguely approaching Eldar. Until someone does, Im GW's bitch. sad, but true.

Thats the crux of it right there. If you are a fan of something very universe specific such as the Eldar, you really have little choice.

Other things can be proxied but Eldar are certainly not one of them.

Well, given that for us in Japan the last 2 years has seen things get much much cheaper the argument is kind of moot.
e.g. In 2007 the pound was equal to 230 yen. Buying stuff here or there made no real difference
In 2009 the pound dropped down to around the 160 yen mark, making stuff real cheap.
Now the pound is struggling at the 130 yen mark so GW's price increases dont bother us at all.

If the pound was still strong, I reckon my spending would be much reduced.

Well the economy is out of the hands of GW so we are just lucky in that respect. But as prices will continue to go up, at what price will you say no or be forced to say no? Of course the stuff they make is lovely but which price hike would see you rush to get all the stuff you need as one big final purchase?

Spev. has a point.. if you do not like the GW line there is nothing stopping your from

A. making your own models
B. Getting proxy models
C. Used models

Voss states the obvious like if you want "Luis Vitton "you buy it... if you have the cash ..

GW is not doing anything others have not done before them that said Chapter House is doing a fine job making stuff as are lots of others and I think there will be more and more as GW pushes its self out of the mid market...

As Prim. says there the last few years Japan has been a very good place to buy models.. from Forge World... i just hope it continues...

One thing I think will be good about the price bump is I reckon the quality of plastic models will get even better...

At the moment, my disposable income is 100% disposable, but I guess in the future that may change. I dont have any kids yet but I am sure in a couple of years time that will change. At that point I will stop being able to buy new stuff and may have to work on getting my old stuff built and painted instead.
